The day I received DBPro , I made a little demo to see the speed improvement on DBPro in comparison with DBV1 for 2D graphics.
That demo is very basic and only use "PASTE IMAGE".
No sprites command used .
I also use the EXCLUSE DISPLAY MODE to get smoother scrolling.
And with test , i get more than 380fps when i turn off sync ( sync rate 0 ) , on my 1.2Ghz+GF2TI64 PC.

It is strongly inspired from the game called "shadow of the beast" from Psygnosis on Amiga .
You can download it here if you want to try it :

nice little demo, but i think youve been a bit unfair printing that plain text onto the screen each frame of the originals darkbasic demo, as that drastically kills the fps, u coulda put it on a bitmap, or had both demos with the text on to insure a fair test.

but good work, looks sweet

I know but it is an example to show the differencies for PASTE IMAGE functions.

"see the speed improvement"

but this is what u said, and by writting to the screen u are hindering the originals speed performance dramatically

I've tried to write to a bitmap and copy to the screen but on my computer , this hit considerably the performances !

If I use direct to screen drawing , on my computer , it is the faster !

Pikapooh - even rendering to an offscreen bitmap DBV1 is still massively slower in 2D operations than DBPro, no matter what tricks you want to use. You're welcome to download my pixel mover demo to test this theory out from darkforge.co.uk (in the files/dbpro section). You'd never in a million years get 80,000 pixels plotted in DBV1 at a frame rate above 1fps See the comments in the code for more details.

Cheers,

Rich
