Greetings all,

This is for those of you who are haveing trouble updating to DarkBASIC v1.13.

System Error: Language file not updated

When you update to 1.13 ( usually from 1.08 ) you are required to also update the Help Files to v1.10.
The help files also contain the Language Files ( ie, English error messages, French error messages etc ), which are needed by DBv1.13 to run.

When updating, don't use the ftp method ( ftp://thegamecreators.com ) but rather, the specifically designed method of browsing from the home page to the Upgrades Page.

To get there;
http://www.thegamecreators.com >> DarkBASIC >> Downloads >> Upgrades
Select your language, then hit 'Next'.

This will bring you to the page where the following files are available:
o patch113.exe
o helpv110.exe
o DarkBASIC_Manual_v113.zip
o readme113.txt

Unable to Update to 1.13 at all

For those that are having trouble with updating in general ( ie, can't install 1.13 at all ) then you are best off to post your System Specifications, the problem your having and any error messages you may be getting in this forum, and we can help

Can't run exe's after updating

If you can sucessfully install 1.13 patch, along with the help files, but you cannot run any apps, you must meet the minimum system requirements:
o DirectX 7.0a and up
o DirectX 7.0a compatable Graphics Card
o Latest Card Specific Graphics Drivers
o Win 98 and up
o 32MB RAM and up

If you DO meet these requirements, but cannot get DarkBASIC to run, post your System Specifications, along with code, the problem your having and any error messages you may be getting in this forum, and we can help

Last resort

If you have followed these instructions, and yet still cannot update sucessfully, and noone was able to help on the forums ( give it at least a day on the forum ), then you may want to contact Mike ( mike @ thegamecreators.com ) or Lee ( lee @ the gamecreators.com ) who are the creators of DarkBASIC, and ask them for assistance.
And, don't forget to include your system specs, error messages, and code where applicable, otherwise you most likely will not get a reply.

Hopefully this will clear up a few things.

Jess.

I have quite a problem...

I had a full CD-ROM with the DBC Enhanced version. But i lost the CD.

1.13 Pro does not support DLL and MEMBLOCK functions.

Is there a way to upgrade the 1.13 to 1.13 Enhanced ?

DifNiX,
Yes, there is a way to upgrade to 1.13 enhanced.
To do this, simply uninstall DarkBASIC, then reinstall it ( you should now have v1.08 or a version lower than 1.13 ). Next, follow my previous instructions to download the 1.13 patch, and install that.
Along with the 1.13 upgrade, is a trial version of the Enhancement pack for 30 days, with unlimited usage.

If, however, you have already payed for the Enhancement pack, and you have proof that you have, then I would suggest using the support form on this site to state this, and request that you obtain another copy if you can prove it. However, this is my personal view, and I cannot guarentee that you will be able to get another copy.

Jess.

Thanks Heart

I can't remember where I sourced the original requirements from, but they were obviously wrong, as I just went through the DB folder and found only a mention of DX 7.0a, nothig higher

Although, are you sure that DX7 is the min for DBC 1.13 Enhanced? I remember it being bumped up... Although, again, I could be completely wrong

Thanks again

Jess.

Edit: I'm stupid... This is for the original DBP upgrade, not DBPro.

DirctX 7 is the minimum requeriment for DBC, I remember that in the old DB site it said DX7, so it's right

By the way, nice one Jess
