Hi all,
My mother told me about this story a few weeks ago, and it turned out to be true. I can't believe I own one of this bastard's shirts!!!

Check it out: http://urbanlegends.about.com/library/weekly/aa121698.htm

Making openly racist remarks on NATIONAL TV... thats just horrible. And the most ironic thing is, TH's clothes are like gangster clothes which a LOT of hispanic people and black people wear. Asians too.

Heck even reading the first 10 lines tells you that.

Quote: "The topic of this week's sermon is the Ninth Commandment of Moses: "Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor."

Allow me to cast the first stone.

A whole lot of nice, earnest folks who surely don't consider themselves liars are using the Internet to spread a false and libelous rumor about fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger."

umm! thats a load of crock!, those rumours and worse have been following several famous people about the net for years, you get some person who inadvertantly upsets mr weirdo (maybe refused to change badly soiled boxer shorts brought back to the store or something ), and next thing they decide to slag off the maker on the net, do a search for anyone well known and you can find some weird rumour about em (did you know David Hasselhoff is the antichrist? G,Bush is a reptilian robot?, the Queen is a hells angel and a satanist?)
the worlds full of weirdos, learn to discriminate (in the correct sense) always make up your own mind, like the article said, some research showed the lies had been going on for years, and they had swapped from one person to another in that time, all that is is spam from some sado who thinks he has a grudge, do yourself a favour, ignore it, it just isn`t true.

@IHG

You have to take anything you read on the net with a pinch of salt, as the article clearly suggests, the rumour is entirely false.

In any case, a fashion designer who makes gangsta-style clothes really doesn't strike me as the type of person likely to make racist remarks. The fashion industry after all contains individuals from just about every minority you can think of.

Oh tell me you're kidding.

Why do so many people fall for these ridiculous rumors without checking the facts? All I can think is they want to dislike these people and latch onto any excuse. Is the hate not worth five minutes of your time to see if it's justified?

I heard on one Satanic conspiracy site that the Queen of England sold her soul because they played rock at her ball. I also heard that since Bush let Ozzy eat with him, Bush is with the Devil. I also read one of those Satanic conspiracy books telling us how the Jews are responsible for all of the worst events in history. I think we all know where that kind of thinking gets us...He also said that some guy a long time ago said "God is a circle", so now everything with a circle in it is a part of one huge Satanic conspiracy (he went as far as saying Sesame Street is in on it) I enjoy reading these books, some of the greatest comedies of all time are in them. He even blamed the Jews on the Oklahoma bombings

You gotta love those bogus web pages...

There was one site a viewed long ago that was looking at a piece of software called Hell Search or something like that. It scanned the internet for images and ran algorithms checking them for pentacles. Then it would highlight the pentacles and give you the web page so you could mail the administrator and ask him to remove the evil image.

Amusingly, a few example 'evil' images they pulled up included a collage of children's clip art and a snapshot of a normal looking woman.

Actually, this rumour is true. Some friends of mine watched the show on oprah where he said(if i remember correctly) if he'd known colored people would wear his clothing he wouldnt have made it.

Rumor or not, Dillards (a department chain here in the states) has dropped the Hilfiger line which they have carried for many years. So, the guy is being hurt by it. On the bright side, my wife made a killing in clearance sales.

I just have to watch out for some stupid b4st4rd wanting to shoot me for wearing 'racist' clothing.

pfft, who would want to wear that crud anyway? It's just a giant slogan you're embracing to the world, talk about free advertising..

waste of good money and more subliminal advertising.

What do I wear? Cheap clothing that looks nice. No advertiser slogans. Yes I would wear clothing with imagery or things like the Mega Man, Dragon Art, (sometimes expensive, but I don't buy it that often) or other types of shirts you see at places like 'hot topic' (sells clothing like that, and lots of musical artists mugshots), or wear shirts that advertise things I like, like certain webcomics or maddox^_^.

You're focusing on the youth line. Hilfiger's clothing for men is much more conservative, well built, and designed. The Hilfiger logo (when visible) is only a few square centimeters in size.

OMG... that is SO true. It's absolutely ridiculous how companies like Hurley, Roxy, Billabong, etc, have like a TINY logo and charge like 20 freakin bukcs per T SHIRT.

i rarely pay more than 15 usd for a shirt, and I wear nice casual shirts (gotta love old navy).

Pants, rarely more than 20^_^

and as for hilfiger, i won't buy that junk, too expensive. And I sure as heck wouldn't let my kid buy outragously expensive shirts with giant advertisements embroidered on them

I never said that he appeared on Oprah. I said he was racist. I've heard this repeatedly from many ppl over the years. I've never seen anything personally from him to prove this. But I couldn't care less, i hate major clothing labels anyway.

Lol... I'm wearing a Hilifiger shirt right now ... AND NO, I DID NOT PAY 25 BUCKS FOR IT; I got it at the outlet for 10 .

I dunno... obviously he didn't ever appear on the Oprah show... but i still dont know about the racist rumors. I kind of doubt it cuz hilifiger clothing is like gangsta-pimp clothin = black people. If he knew this, then he'd damn well STOP making his clothing, so in that sense the fact thats hes racist is BS. Whatever

Man, we must shop in different stores. 95% of the stuff I buy from the guy is conventional slacks and shirts for middle class wage slaves. When I want to be pimpin, I break out the zoot suit, fedora, and Stacy Adams Spectators (long, smooth bottom, black and white shoes.)

Indian Homie G, Are you thinking G-Unit, or Shady Records, because Hilfiger is more "preppy" than gangsta, if you entered the hood in that stuff saying yous was gangsta, you'd probably be leaving, in a box. (It' from Malibu's Most Wanted)

I would add a witty comment but I freely admit that when it comes to 'gangsta' and 'the hood' I am utterly out of my depth.

I do know quite a bit about pimpin' however

Sorry but just had to add that the only "Gangstas" who wear G-Unit are G-Unit themselves... other than that its 12 year old skinny white middle class fanboys. Oh well
