here's the scenario:

create gadget window ToolWindow,2,"Toolkit",1

I have a window, set as a tools window, so I can grab it and move it around. This automatically inherits a close button. So the user can close the gadget without me knowing...or is there a way to interrogate this action?

The ideal solution for me is a window with a title bar but no ability to close the window. Is this possible?

I found the answer to my question...

GADGET VISIBLE(GadgetID)

Function to find out whether or not a gadget is visible. Note that when window gadgets are closed using the window's 'X' button, they are hidden rather than destroyed.

Blue v2 will have a neater way around the problem. Instead of closing the window automatically, a WINDOW_CLOSE event occurs, and you can process this and decide whether to prompt the user to save / quit etc.

Cheers, guys. I did actually plonk for the "if window is hidden, show it" style code.

Most things are achievable with BlueGUI, with a little lateral thinking.
