Run Around is a small program made for running around your newly made levels, while printing to the screen helpful information about them.

I aim to make this program better from comments made by you peeps, hint hint.

It can be found here: http://www.aura.dbspot.com/zips/RunAroundV1.2.zip

The controls are as follows:

Tab: Switch between Walk Mode and Fly Mode.

*While in Fly Mode:

W: Forward.
S: Backwards.
A: Left.
D: Right.

Mouse to rotate camera.

-: Decrease level size.
=: Increase level size.

*While in Walk Mode:

W: Forward.
S: Backwards.
A: Left.
D: Right.

Ctrl: Crouch.
Shift: Walk.
Space: Jump.

Mouse to rotate camera.

-: Decrease level size.
=: Increase level size.

The tester comes with a file named Setup.txt. This file allows you to change most of the default settings for Run Around. All of the commands in there are titled descriptively, and give you a good idea of how to make alterations.

The tester also comes with two simple levels that were made up for this tester, and to allow you to test it without having to change any settings.

So, please give me feedback on how you found this little program so that I can make any alterations to best fit your needs.

It should include everything that comes under the category, 'Load Object'.

Thanks for the positive feedback The Lynx.

Edit:

Now, although pictures can't actually show you how it runs, here are some anyway.

The default level box.x:

And the second level grids.x

It's good, though the jumping is way too fast IMO.

Also, if you jump and press right then let go of right but continue to hold the jump button, you will keep jumping to the right.

Yeah, I'm told that moving in the same direction while jumping but having just released the button that moves you in the correct direction is a good thing. I'll probably make an option for it later on then, just for you Rpg Cyco.

Manticore Night, he just want my fame and glory

Though I'm interested by this Purple Monkey army...

Edit:

Oh, I also intend to add the abitility for the user to change how high/fast they jump.

@The Linx

Not sure about fps engine. The source code isnt included so you cant modify it to add weaponry or anything. On the other hand it is very good for previewing your levels on the fly

I'm going to add a browser, a few more settings to change, and support for more object formats.
Next release will be pretty soon.

Powersoft, this was a public engine test using a very old engine.

I am still however going to be updating this, as I know how annoying it is to make a level and then have no way of really testing it from a gamers perspective without doing a load of code, and as alot of people use csm maps, that will be the next main feature(big thanks to APEXnow for the csm plugin).

Now, I'm going to have some coffee, add a few script abilities and, if I'm not too tired, post an update.
