... of Hockey!

Canada beat the Fins 3-2 to prove that, once again, hockey is their game

They won all 6 of their games for a perfect record. They have the gold medals in both men and women hockey from the 2002 Olympics as well.

Trivia: What's Canada's national sport?

EDIT:

I didn't know this, but as of 1994 Canada has 2 official national sports. Hockey is Canada's official winter sport, and ____________ is Canada's official summer sport.

Curling

But yet, 3/4's of the canadian team plays for american NHL teams. All because us americans gather up all the good players before any other country has a say in it.

Speaking of NHL, hows NHL 2005 coming along.

My contract expired at EA a few weeks ago so I'm not sure how it's coming along. Gamespot has its release at Sep. 20th, so I'm hoping that it meets expectations (and that I can at least get a free copy )

Hockey is actually Canada's official winter national sport. But there's another sport that has been our official sport forever.

Yeah, it's not like the World Series where only merican teams take part .

You know we have a rink in my home town, yet I haven't been to a hockey game in years, It's quite popular in Scotland - like most major cities have a rink. Our local team is called the Fife Flyers.

The other 'sport' is lacrosse which is one sport I just don't get.

So, what's my prize? You can send it to me in the UK, officially the world's best country.

You're absolutely correct! Lacrosse has been played in Canada even before Canada was discovered by the west! You win...

It used to be called the Canada Cup, but a few years ago it was changed--- apparently the name was too egotistical or something like that :p

Anyways, the countries that play for the World Cup are Finland, Sweden, Czech Republic, Germany, Canada, Russia, United States, and Slovakia. Not too shabby Of course there are several more teams that compete in the winter Olympics.

EDIT: Sorry about the double post---

Here's the new World Cup trophy:

Crikey, I can't believe you didn't realise they were guys! Must be because we're all so good-looking down here. And yes, I play Field Hockey and no, it isn't played on grass, it's played an sand-based astroturf and the higher grades play on a water-based field.

I'm not telling you, It's between 15 and 15. I don't know much about many non-canadian sports.

I know water based means that it started as water and they screwed around with it. But, I just like the idea of some guys in shorts sloshing around in water saying things like "crickey!". I'm an artist and a coder, not a scientist. Those big words confuse me, my education is in french so I may know some of those words in french and not in english, and vice versa(Beacause I learnt french and english at about the same time(approx)).

I am a Canadian, now a US Permanent Resident. I left Winnipeg (a.k.a. Winterpeg), because I did not like the job situation there, and more importantly, my wife lives in California. I graduated as a Computer Analyst/Programmer from Red River College, and found that myself and many of my classmates could not find decent jobs at all. Simply pathetic... Most of my life, I have been trying to leave Winnipeg because I absolutely hated it there. There are much nicer cities in Canada like Calgary, Edmonton, and Vancouver. Been all over Canada, and I like those three cities.

I decided enough was enough, and I moved to the US to be with my wife. Since leaving Canada, I changed the direction of my life completely. Now, I am studying to become a Mathematics (5-12) teacher - a much more rewarding career choice I think.

Do I regret leaving Canada? Not really... I was there in Winnipeg during April to visit family and friends, and I wanted to get out of there after two weeks. Nothing has changed... Winnipeg will still be boring old Winnipeg. The weather was nice while I was there, but after I left it became colder for most of the summer. I would consider moving to Alberta if I was offered a teaching position there and so would my wife, but that would be the only place I would consider in a move back to Canada. Otherwise, it is Albuquerque, New Mexico in 2 years. That is where we have decided to move when I am ready for my demonstration teaching phase.

It gets hot in Winnipeg for one day a year... lol When you want to go camping and fishing on the weekend, it rains. Blah!

@James Rhodes - Unfortunately, the U.S. is where I will probably end up as well when I graduate with my bachelor in Computer Information Systems this April. While there are plenty more opportunities here in Vancouver than in Winnipeg, it's still pretty grim. I will *never*, however, give up my Canadian citizenship. When I eventually have kids, I want them to have all the benefits I have (free medicare, able to travel anywhere, etc.) Since my wife is from China, our kids will have many opportunities that most others don't

Have some patriotism, man! Winnipeg, is a good place to live. In the summer it's nice, and we have really neat things, like DNTO, and St.Boniface. We have such a diverse population, that we have everyone from, french canadians, to natives, to illegal immagrents.

And Canada is even more diverse. Why don't you get a job at EA, or... EA.
