Ive finally got XP(about time too) and im trying to get things back to how i had them in win 98. The first thing i want to change is in the explorer, how do you set it so that you view the details instead of the icons [ view > details ] - without changing it manually. Also i really hate the background(area around the page) colour in MSword, its a pinkish brown colour and i wanted to change it to a faded blue colour, how do i do this.

I should have changed my signature when asked

Look for the appearance properties inbeside the display properties, just like in 98 where you set the font smoothing and colour scheme.

If you go to the Folder Options in explorer, and look for that part where you can set the view mode - there should be a button for 'Like Current Folder', that's what your after.
