I have asked this question before a couple times but nobody has explained this to me.

I have set my computer up so that I can overclock it to about an XP 3600+ or 3700+. But I wanna just get to 2.4ghz. I got an XP 3000+ and an Abit NF-7 nForce 2.

Also I wanna overclock my horable Radeon 9600 SE and get and extra 30Mhz.

So please help. Thanks a lot.

There are a few methods. You can raise the FSB speed or cpu multiplier (both in BIOS). It will make the cpu faster but less stable. You can get a program like Rage3D tweak or powerstrip to overclock your radeon. Rage3D tweak has some tweaks (no overclocking) to make your vpu faster.

Keep in mind though, that overclocking can and will damage your hardware.

Raise the FSB/Multiplier/VPU clock speeds using tiny amounts. (speed: 2 - 5mhz, multiplier: 0.5X), when your pc is unstable (play a few games) go back a few mhz.

If you raise them with big amounts your pc could crash or even worse

You're wrong. The reason I say cpu's get instable, is because most motherboards don't support voltage changing and I don't want to tell people to change their jumpers or doing some mods (I've done a mod, because my motherboard locked the voltage. I had to remove a resistor to increase 0.1V). Most of those mods mess up motherboards.
Just for safety and preventing "your fault!" cases
