Just save a 256 colour bitmap, and change the extension to .ico

Jess.

I tried it, and the DB editor said it was an invalid image, wouldn't use it.

It seems that DBpro only support 16 color ICO file. When I tried to use icons greater than that color depth, the icon appears garbled up. I am using Blue IDE to add icon though.

A renamed bitmap is not an icon, for lots of things it's close enough but dbpros icon support is flakey at the best of times. At least give it a fighting chance and supply a valid icon.

Does anyone agree with me that it's ridiculous to have to pay for an icon changer?

Why pay for another icon changer? I am happy with my 16 colors icon now. Unless you wanna create an icon that is greater than 16 colors, otherwise, you can just drop in any ICO file in the DBpro IDE.

Well, download my icon changer (use link above, kindly posted by the_winch). Besides the application and other stuff it contains a readme that explains what kind of icons (colour depths & sizes) DBpro likes.

Play Nice! Play Basic! Out now.

I got a program that converts bitmaps to icons and it is FREE!

Gimme a sec to upload it and you can have it!

Supports (I think, been a while):
16x16, 32x32, 64x64 size
8, 24, 32 bit Icons (yes 32! but I doubt many programs do)
Transparency (but I'm not sure it's implemented)

I'll repost with a link

ok, here it is:

http://www.geocities.com/djpeterson83/projects/wicon.zip

if you have any problems, check out IconConverter.txt for support and contact info. I made the program in VB6 and used the Package and Deployment Wizard (ick!) so all dependencies should be there, but in the event that they aren't or it just won't run, post here again and I'll see what I can do.
