DarkBASIC Discussion / how do you save your levels?

I guess it's too slow to save a .3ds and then move it around FPS..
(Don't know how to use memblocks)

I use DBC and have GeForce 4 64 Mt

Look into the file input/output commands, you should really write all the arrays your level uses, and what media it uses out to a file which you'd make with an editor. Then this file is loaded into your engine. It's not too easy to make your own file formats, but it's something that has to be learned at some point.

I have to try that.
Is there something cool and simple way to do levels like this:
First you draw a map from up and then the program makes a 3D of it?
I don't believe that there is, but had to ask anyway.
Of course I can make them easily in Anim8or, but but..?

It's usually best to make level parts in your modeller, then use a level editor to position them, I think magic world is your best bet unless you want to make your own editor - the source code was actually released so perhaps that's a good place to start.
