I've used the search option but could'nt find what I'm looking for some help on how to make a text box or a "list box" as it is called in delphi....I'm making the move from delphi to dbpro but i need to know how to lock my text in a specific area automatically. i.e. i want to define a parameter and the text must stay inside it regardless of how i type...It should be able to scroll up and down when the text fills the box and you want to read previous statements...

I'm making a basic text based game. I dont want to use delhi cause the one i have has sucky compatibility and i need music and soundfx to.. not to mention sprite animation. I know I'm asking alot but can anyone help me please...

I think I've seen stuff like this posted before, perhaps even in the code base. Do a thread search on 'text' and you might find a few things.

Or you could go the Windows API route and get Blue's GUI for the edit boxes it has.

thanks. i keep forgetting there's a codebase (what a wonderful thing). I found a piece of code that locks the text inside the box but it doesnt have a scroll function...incase anybody was interested. Anywho i figured out a way to do my game without a scrolling textbox.
