Here is the first graphic for the IDE that i am making. It is going to be a desktop wallpaper that will be distributed with the final program. I have given this forum the exclusive first view of the image.

I think what we'd like most would be screenshots of the IDE itself

Well they are on the way, i just want to get to a point when it looks like the project is near enough at a user friendly point. At the moment it looks like ants have crawled across the program!

2 questions

what is good with your IDE that no other IDE has, that would make people want to get your IDE?

What programming language did you use to make the IDE?(Ex. DarkBASIC, C++, Visual Basic, Visual J++, etc.)

@1tg46

Answers:

1. Well some of the reasons i have to keep wel hidden at the moment. I know that none of the other IDE's offer at least one of the bits of my program that i am offering. But i am afraid that if i tell anyone, they will nick my idea. It has happened before!

2. Visual basic and part c++. I was going to go down the .net road so i could integrate c++ and vb but some people don't like the whole .net thing, it scares them a bit

That's true, the new bryce is really awesome. I've used it quite a bit, the one thing I dislike about it though is the slow render times. But if you want something to look really good it's going to take time. Good job on that image!

Giles, this isn't directly related to the DBPro IDE, but I notice in the Borland C++ IDE of yours that when you press the tab key, it de-activates the editing area. Is this intentional?

That would be very useful, are you going to include thrid party dll's too.

IDE's that I know of:
Twighlight
BlueIDE
Default Editor
DarkBASIC Network (Work in Progress)
and 2 other projects that are in the making at the moment
and 2 other projects that are completed and I forgot the name for them.

And probably a dozen more that I don't even know of.

No this is a bug, the program should be catching the tab key and replacing it with spaces i think. I will fix this and release an update

@IanG Surreal Studio

I am looking into the syntax highlighting. At the moment i am testing it out on my Borland c++ 5.5 ide to see what ways word work and which would be better.

To make the images i used cinema 4d xl 6 to make my logo and then bryce 5 to import both my logo and the dbpro pyramid. Rendered in bryce and then any other alterations done in photoshop 7

I am currently still working on it, I will post any information in this thread.
http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=39321&b=8

This is a completely darkbasicpro written project and the main developers of the program are Thanatos(new forum member) and me.

Later on when we reach a pretty good bench mark we will post a thread in the team requests asking for assistance in certain areas of the product, and we may eventually release full source code for the project.

These conditions may change at any time without notice.

Any more questions about this product can be answered in the forum thread above.

The bug in the Borland c++ 5.5 ide where it wasn't catching the tab key is now fixed in the latest beta update. You should be able to get it if:

1. You are signed up on the website as a beta user (free)

2. Run the web update program with the beta option checked
