Hi, I was wondering why my images won't go transparent when I set the flag to make the pixels with a color value of 255,255,255. Is it because I am using pngs and they just don't work like that or do I have to set some transparency feature when I save a .png in PSP 8.0?

Got anime?I do.

Ugh, bitmaps...
I'll give it a try though, and btw you can use .PNGS in Pro but not in classic.

If you've got the space to spare I prefer BMP's anyway, due to the level of detail. It makes for a bigger game (in terms of disk space required) but your graphics quality will thank you for it.

I'm using solely BMP's in my 2D RTSG, and they look great compared to their JPG and GIF exports.

its only disk space they eat, and disk space is plentiful and cheap, all images get made into a bitmap before being used anyway, be they jpg or png.

Mentor.

PC1: P4 3ghz, 1gig mem, 3x160gig hd`s, Radeon 9800pro w cooler (3rd gfx card), 6 way speakers.
PC2: AMD 2ghz, 512mb ram, FX5200 ultra, 16 bit SB.
Mini ATX cases suck.

I use PSP8 and DBPro and find png's are by far the best format. DBPro will use any transparency you save with the image. This includes multiple level alpha channels you get with PSP8. You can thus get lovely semitransparent textures.

DBPro will only use transparency stuff from a PNG, you can not override it with colourkey settings.

Pngs use lossless compression, they look exactly the same as the uncompress bitmap but can save a lot of disk space.

To answer the actual question, for image formats that can contain alpha info dbpro uses that info instead of the colour key for transparancy. If you want transparancy with png you need to set the image transparancy in your image editor. Then when you load it in dbpro the transparancy will be correct.

it's cool to hate
