darkbasic and blitzbasic seem to be alot alike but I don't have darkbasic. I probably shouldn't be talking about blitz because I heard the two were like

try the demo, download either demo (pro or classic) and try it out, I think you can get a demo for Blitz too, you should be able to tell in few days which one suits you, just try to make some simple effects or a game even, and see which one you get the most results from when you are writing code, thats the one you should settle for (IMO).

Mentor.

PC1: P4 3ghz, 1gig mem, 3x160gig hd`s, Radeon 9800pro w cooler (3rd gfx card), 6 way speakers.
PC2: AMD 2ghz, 512mb ram, FX5200 ultra, 16 bit SB.
Mini ATX cases suck.
