EDIT: MOVED HERE FROM WIP ********

Dont ask me why but I have been making an IRC client application. I call it CRIRC...

its a fully functional irc client app with more to come soon. It was written in VB.NET so it requires the .NET Framework 1.1 to run. You can dl the framework at: http://msdn.microsoft.com/netframework/downloads/framework1_1/
Be sure to grab the REDIST at the bottom of the page, as opposed to the SDK, the redist is smaller and is all you need to run .net apps

Before you connect to an irc server you need to go into Edit/Connection and set your Nick and Password (if necessary), also I left the other settings pointing to the lightning.chattingaway.com server where the #darkbasic channel is located. Join us there if you like

feel free to post comments/suggestions/questions/bug-finds here.
Thanks
CR

When you get it, you can use it to drop by to the official #darkbasic channel (above) and chat with people there!!. Looks great CR, all we have to do now is finish darkTopia :-P

The 3d chat is coming...
In the meantime, come in the IRC. Ask me for details!!.

Some stuff I forgot to mention:

/ commands work from within chat windows:
/clear, /clearall, /nick, /me, /join

right click users list for menu

LIST window:
you can join a chat by right clicking it in the channel list window

Edit Menu:
edit connection and favorites

Server Window:
this window accepts non-chat based slash commands but WITHOUT the slash. Here you can use nick, msg nickserv identify, list etc;

the rest is pretty self explanatory.
meh

You have way too much time on your hands

I think I'll stick to Telnet though, manually replying to all those Ping's with Pong's is fun!

cool
[edit] someone needs to make a irc client that you can connect to several different servers at the same time. I don't use irc much but when I do the channels are all on different servers and I have 3 clients open

uploaded a new version with a few minor fixes...

-menu choice to cascade open windows
-added checks to check for data overruns in chat/server/pm windows
-made status window Fixed single instead of fixed tool box, so as to allow minimizing

also, as a general rule right click on stuff for a context menu of features for that object.

same link as above

I think he means that this is a VB.NET app...being posted in a WIP board thats supposed to be related to Dark Basic, Dark Basic Pro, or Dark Basic (Pro) Related Programs. Sorry Cattle, but you should know better, wrong place, should be put in general chat.

Cheers,
Preston

I actually wasnt sure where to put it. I thought because it was sort of an ongoing thing it might be better in WIP and that no one would mind. If one of the other mods could post here and let me know what they think, I will move it if necessary.

thanks

I think the WIP forum is the perfect place for CRIRC, and that we should all be happy that CR is giving this out to the DarkBASIC community.

It really is a great irc client that a few members of these very forums are already using to get into the DarkBASIC irc room.

Just saying what Cattle should have already known. This forum has been for Dark Basic, Dark Basic Pro, or DB(P) Related Programs only since I joined these forums, and I'm sure way before I joined as well.

Quote: "and this program is related to db"

An IRC client programmed in Visual Basic .Net...please tell me how that relates to Dark Basic in anyway (what, you mean that he's testing it in #darkbasic? Thats hardly a relation to dark basic).

Either way, it's looking pretty cool CR, keep it up.

Cheers,
Preston

I think this'd be better in general talk, and besides - you get more traffic there

Great work Cattle!

Now back to DarkTOPIA I hope. I say we all move to Utah and terrorise the boy Jimmy until he completes the GUI. I realise this is an extreme proposal but I'm now officially desperate.

I think EricT (Liquidz_Snake) lives only 40 mins drive from Jimmy boy's house, maybe we could offer him Jelly Donuts and a pack of liquorish to do the deed? Heh.

I a rewrapping my head around darkTopia and will try and get it back up to speed asap.

Thanks for the kind words about crirc and DT.

It doesn't have to be created in DB to go in the WIP forums, just look at the TPC Plugins , but yeah, it should be related a little more closely then it just being tested in our chatroom. lol
