Okay, You've seen most of the video game turned movies out there and you know that they are CRAP! (with the exception of the original Mortal Kombat and a few others ). So if "you" called the shots what video game would you make into a movie? why? and have you got any actors/actresses lined up for the start roles?

One movie i would really like to see is HITMAN:Codename 47... and if anyone has seen The Transporter they would know that jason statham would fit the part nicely.

Another game turned movie i would like to see is TEKKEN.

Video Games are a lot better than movies.

Yeah, but you get all that cinematic feeling in the movies .

Halo also would make a good movie. It'd need more plot, but it'd work.

I'd have to say.... Frogger! You could have Danny DeVito as Frogger.

But seriously I'd pick Zelda: Ocarina of Time. You could have some noname guys play everyone.

It's amazing how much TV has raised us. (Bart Simpson)

Something with the feel of Diablo maybe. (I'm no goth, but it would sure be 'different')
Or of course an FF7 movie. (but thats being done already)

The Diablo world would make a nice movie, but with the ending it has with Diablo II, they'd probably just skip to Diablo II if they did that. It'd work with a proper set of flashbacks and stuff. Diablo does not have nearly, nearly enough plot to make a movie itself; with a lot of work, Diablo II might... nice cinematics and all...

Yup, i also had Max Payne and Metal Gear Solid in mind. Their gonna have to find another innovative use of bullet time for Max Payne though. The best actor for Max in my opinion would be Mel Gibson, the older Max in part 2 even looked the part. As for Snake... Jude Law isn't that bad but i prefer Hugh Jackman.

Aquanox, it's just cheesy enough to make a good sci-fi channel movie.

There are not to many movies that I'd like to see converted to computer games. Perhaps Battlestar Galactica.

Splinter Cell would make a great movie, but you'd have to have the actor who voiced him do the part. (I forget his name off-hand)...

Ummm... quick look at some of my games..... Homeworld would be tops.... as would Dungeon Keeper.... ah yes, Crusader would be most good too, or any space marine game (eg. space hulk). Heh, and interstate 76 would be most funky. Rats, too many games...

Cheers

Ps. Make all of the spin-off Star Wars games into movies. Do the whole lot, as one of them is bound to be better than the current batch. Unless there is a kiddie game all about Jar Jar. In which case drown the little b**tard instead.

The best dark basic games to make into films would be:

- Strutt your stuff.
- Equilibrium (not the movie starring christian bale... the game!).
- Axes of Evil.
- Star Wraith.

The best dark basic game to make into an animated movie would be tito the bouncing alien.

There already making Doom,Tekken, Spy Hunter... and they might make a Prince of Persia movie too, and you can't forget that they're making a Metroid movie too.
I would say Zelda.
I hate to say this but if it were about Teen Link the only possible actor who would if is ... arrgghh, I can't dare say it....
Orlando Bloom
... I said it.
Also I wouldn't mind KOTOR, it kicks the other Star Wars realted stuffs' asses.
Also NFS:U, it would kill the Fast and the Furious if you asked me, and the story could follow the game meaning the movie would actually focus on street racing and not under cover guys who happen to street race solving crimes and busting Drug Dealers.
How about, def jam, and the rappers could actually star in it? Just throwing out ideas.
And finally TES III: Morrowind would be nice.

Got anime?I do.

Ive always thought StarCraft or Diablo would make good movies. Maybe a Unreal Tournament movie also... you know it would be sort of like The movie "The Running man" starring Arnold Shwartzenegger(Spelling).

Haven't actually seen this one. But is it supposed to be "Axes", as in Golden Axe? So you are some sort of Conan effort will lots of Axes (that are evil). Or do you mean "Axis"? Sounds a lot cooler with "Axis".

Dazzag:

Check out the dark basic game showcase, you can find some information about Axes of Evil and probably a download. And yeah, if they did make a movie it would be like Conan the Barbarian or simillar.

A Tekken game would be really cool! I't has enough potential to be way better than Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter. If anyone has seen the movie: Avenging Fist it was loosely based on the Tekken series.

I know this isn't a game but I'd still like to see it as a movie, and maybe a game:
Ender's Game
It was a great action packed Sci-Fi novel that had a great story and gut make a great movie, and it had enough action to make a decent game, it could also span a series, with the so called sequles about Lustitania and the real sequals like the side story Ender's Shadow and Shadow of the Hegemon, Shadow Puppets etc...
Who else agrees?

If I remember correctly the most favourably rated film based on a game where the story from the game was used was actually the first Mortal Kombat film, most other game to film transitions have been met very poorly:

Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within - was widely misunderstood and very few people took it seriously.
Resident Evil - had very little in relation to the games outside of the basic plot, and the genetically modified main character just didn't fit well with me either.
Tomb Raider - was so tacky to me I could almost see a tv series coming but didn't I think they'd be that stupid, then I discovered Relic Hunter and fainted in disgust.
Mario Brothers - didn't feel like any of the games at all, which is not surprising considering you'd have to do it as a cartoon, and kind of scewed off at a tangent after the main characters were developed.
House of the Dead - hasn't even been published in the UK (as far as I am aware) and only got good reviews from people who said "only watch if you're up for a laugh", which wasn't encouraging.
Street Fighter - the Anime one was good apart from the attempt at including every single character (all 16) oh, and the blatent shower scene, but the live action one, lets just not go there.

What I'm trying to say is, games turned into films, and (while on the subject) films turned into games, very often won't work out very well. You really need to get people making the transition to be fans of the original or people who would take the work seriously, otherwise it could easily be a half-hearted job because it's an already established copyright.

If they got the right people I definately think that these games could make very good films:

Deus Ex
Max Payne
Half-Life
Halo
Legend of Zelda
Flashback
Exile (BBC Micro game, now that's retro)
Diablo
Postal 2 (if done right, this could make a hysterical film)

On the other hand, here're a couple films that might make good games if done right:

Borne Identity
Avalon (the one from the guy who did Ghost in the Shell)

Avan

[edit] I went it bit OTT on the info there, didn't I?

I enjoy every minute of it!

Manticore Night: Vince the Vet?... have you got a link for me?

Anime blood: I'm in the UK right now but the British SKY TV network doesn't have a g4Techtv channel.

The Bourne Identity "could" make a pretty interesting game, but i see it as a kinda Max Payne mimic only with armed/unarmed combat and vehicles.

The Bourne Identity, I would imagine a less stealthy Splinter Cell, and if I were EA or someone I would've bought a liscence immediatly, I'm just suprised no one did.
