Hey, just wondering if anyone here is a cricket fan, well, the first test has just started! Australia has won the toss and elected to bat first, they are currently 47/0.

Any favorites? Well, you know who I'll be rooting for

Shame for Aussies Ponting can't play, shame for India Tendulkar cant play

[edit] w00t w00t! Australia 50/1, Hayden caught by Yuvraj Singh at 26!

The groundsmen tampered with the pitch to make it suit the Indian bowlers apparently. It was on the news last night.

Well I don't know, India has done a nice job of rigging the pitch so it plays well for their spinners (read: cheating), and considering Australia favours the pace bowlers, our only real spinner is Warne and I have no idea how well Hauritz will do.

Then again, we do have the youngster Michael Clarke, Clarke was bloody awesome in the one-day team and IMHO, he's definately in line for captain, although it's a long time away before he'll be considered. I'd go as far as to say he's the next Ponting.

Still 1/50 at this stage.

Oh sh*t, 3 aussies! Where are my India supporters!

I dont think India tampered w/ the pitch, all indian pitches suck, really dry, which anyway suits spinners, they didnt tamper with them, they were always like that, I think.

No, they most definately tampered with it, you walk around Bangalore and it's all green - they've just had 6 weeks of heavy rain. The guys who were tending to the pitch admitted that the managers of the India team asked them to create a spinning pitch, they were quite happy to admit it, because that's exactly what they did and they were proud of it.

Well exeat is quite right. The pitch in Banglore was tampered with. I usually support for India but not this time. This is really outward cheating, not that Australia does not tamper ( they do with balls but so does India- that levels them) but this time I pitch for aus.

Hi there.

I support England in International cricket as the all Ireland team is treated like a county team. Although I did get to see them beat the windies at the start of the summer in an exhibition match. The grounds they use are in the estate that I work in.

For those of you trapped in work here is a page that has a ball by ball update window. The button for it is near the top right of the page. You can also see a full score card from there.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/cricket/other_international/3719540.stm

I will be supporting India against Australia though. I'm sure the Australians among you can figure out why that is. Grrrr.

In the future we will not spank the monkey, the monkey will spank us.

AAGGHHHHH crap... katich 81 clarke 76, crap, India's screwed over . Well i didnt expect them to win anyways. Kumble's got 3 wickets tho, thats a good start for spin. My prediction, Australia all out: 580. India comes to bat and.... I dont wanna talk about it .

Nah, not 580, more like, 450. Day 2 is starting soon, I think India has the advantage here, because if the pitch dries and cracks up, Kumble and Harbhajan Singh will oWnz0r you Aussies . Also, 46% humidiity and 110 degrees F cant help the Aussies much batting either, while India is used to this type of a weather. But then again, at this stage I think Australia is doing well, 316/5 is a good score.

THAT'S BS!!!!!!!!! All countries tamper with their pitches! I mean come on! I was wrong posting earlier, India probably did tamper w/ the pitches, but Indian pitches are dry and cracked anyways. Australia definetly tampers to suit their pace bowlers (McGrath, Lee, and co.).

lol and Rougecat, I am for some reason remembering, you are in Madras? Where's your Indian spirit?

Yes I am frm Chennai but we people here love the game more than the country. N anyways i've totally lost hope in Indian Cricket about a year back. They dont play with the spirit that they used to anymore. Theres too much money rolling in from other sources for them. They care less about the game now.

It already was dried and cracked up!

Although that may be true to a certain extent, India has just gone overboard, there a way too many cracks in it and you should see how large they are. Even the officials said they had to put mud in between the cracks to stop them from opening up even wider.

Anyway, current update:

Australia is 5-420!! Clarke is 110 not out and Gilchrist just scored his century and is 102 not out.

wow im impressed bt this clarke fellow, his test match debut, and against India, scores a century, wow.

HA! Finally! Gilchrist out for 111! And that's lunch, Australia 423/6. Jeezus, India needs a stint of quick wickets otherwise i think Australia's gonna run a way with this one.

ANd yes, sadly, I must agree with you RougeCat, India, is basically hopeless. I really liked how they played in the World Cup, but now they're really inconsistent, there's matchfixing, etc. Tendulkar is getting old and less "great" now, he keeps getting out for really low scores, then once in a while he puts up a 100 or 200 or something, but I just think the whole team is really suspect now, can't predict whether they will 0wN or get 0wNz0rd.

The income from playing cricket isnt so great as compared to the other campaigns they do. They get fat cash from those. They dont care anymore if they played well. The reality is they spend more time posing be4 the cameras than on the pitch be4 a match.

Well for some1 who does not like cricket, thats some followup...U know who I mean!

Well, our tail enders didn't do too well, which is no surprise really lol. All out for 474 and Clarke was caught at 151.

Anyway, we're destroying India, 2-74.

Edit: 4-98 - You guys aren't looking too good!

Edit2: 6-150, with only the tail enders to go! Bwahah.

AGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH India=screwed over 100% . Well, our last hope is Parthiv Patel, he's a youngster but he needs to stay and not get out. Even then, India is still screwed.

Ya, sorry, that's what I meant, whoops. WEll India all out for 246, Aus currently 127-5, well they're in trouble too, India might have a chance, and might win, like they did 3 years ago *cough* Laxman double century *cough* Dravid century *cough* Australia lost after scoring 600 in the first innings *cough* *choking*

Jk... but this might become interesting...

Well we'd need to declare soon anyway because there's only 2 days remaining and we need enough time to get you all out.

Yep, Australia's best bet is to whack at it for about half the day, then declare/get all out. Could be close, Australia 152/5, not looking too good... but then again India is in a hole..

edit: YES! Make that 162/6!

I might take this chance to point out that India's highest score in a last innings to win the game has been 406 runs, their second highest was only 260.

Indias going down n real bad!!

86 for 6 Parthiv Patel out on 4 by Warne.

India needs 371 runs with 4 wickets on hand. The match is way out of hands now for India.
