The only trouble I've had with DarkEDIT is trying to use the extended syntax. I've never noticed any problems with just normal DB code in it. Please give some examples of the sort of bugs you've noticed.

Works here

Quote: " and it takes 2 clicks on the little dash to minimize it"

Not exactly a bug, more WinXP incompatibility (DE was written 2000).

What new program?

Erm, you sure you have it linked to the compiler correctly. I have never had trouble with DarkEdit.

Do you mean a new DB source file? What do you think the first button on your toolbar is for? You can have hundreds of projects open at once if you want! DarkEDIT is a multiple document interface application, like Microsoft Word or other similar programs, meaning you can work on several documents at once in the same editor. Check out this screenshot:

Hmm... no complaints about Dark Edit here... helps for working on include'd files, and I've never encountered a single bug (excluding the minimize/maximize buttons).

But anyways, why complain? You could go back to the standard Dark Basic program...

I think it's fine. Except this fact :
- when you have DarkEdit open and you click two times on a .dba file then it opens Darkedit a second time, instead of opening it in the active program.

- Mind the gap -

I had the minimizing issue with DarkEdit as well. It does this because DarkEdit is programmed to have a windows 2000 ui, and at the same time XP is trying to give it a windows XP ui. Go to C:\Program Files\DarkBasic Software\DarkBasic\DarkEDIT 156 (or wherever the heck your darkedit.exe is), right click on darkedit.exe, select properties, go to Compatability and check "Disable visual themes". That will fix the problem.

I tried CodeKeeper, and it was a little confusing, and I didn't trust it because it locked up on me a couple of times and didn't compile right.

If you're looking for a general code editor (one that is mostly used for things like C/C++, Java, PHP, etc.) check out Crimson Editor. Of course, it won't compile nicely like DarkEdit does.

Yep. Worked that out a few days ago myself.

It's always decorative stuff like that screws up the works - on purpose, the creator of the program overlayed the title bar with his own purply thingy in Delphi (i think it was made in Delphi).

Then again, who thought that the next operating system would make everything rounded and break 10 years of code at the same time?

???

yes, windows is running behind DarkBasic. No, it's not a windows environment. We need gadgets like the _, [], and X buttons, scroll bars, drop menus, etc.

I always use DarkEdit. It has much better search and replace functions, and is in a more friendly environment. I can make it a smaller window and look at a text file at the same time, have 5 programs open at once, etc...

The question is, why not use DarkEdit?

the only thing with darkedit functions highlighting...say you type:

text 0, 0, str$(screen fps())

screen fps() will not highlight, you have to use

text 0, 0, str$(screen fps() )

which is just a little awkward, it's nice that the syntax file is in an easy to figure out format though, if you have some functions that you write yourself and use in practically every program you write you can stick 'em in there.
