Why does Windows XP keep logging on to the net?

If I click Trashcan, I go on to the Net.

If I click My Computer, I go on to the net.

How do I stop this Stupid Behaviour.

Thanks!

Pincho.

Might be a good idea to check for viruses, defrag and do a scan-disk - its not exactly normal behaviour... If that fails, do as Mr Flabby suggests and re-install XP...

That used to happen to me on Win 98. I think the way to fix it is to open Internet Explorer (not sure about in other browsers). Go to Tools>Properties then go to the Connections tab. Ensure the Never Dial a Connection is selected.

If it's not that I have no idea

Yeah it does seem to be a feature of windows. The way it asks me if I want to work Online or Offline.

I don't have that problem.

*begins to think*
Maybe it's because I'm always online when my computer is on.
*ends to think*

Never Dial A Connection is already set. I can't believe that I have an unknown problem in just 1 day. I only installed XP yesterday. I have no known virus, and no known spyware, and my registry looks OK.
