This is the website I made for Db coding/gaming. It's got various stuff on it. What do you think?

I like it but:

The red dots: change it to blue
The banner: odd...
The nav buttons: change font
The tables: need to be padded

I haven't time to examine further

Cool site

Can we find out the results to the poll? I am very curious. I code in all small letters. Probably because it is faster.

But I do agree with N3OF1SH, you should change the color of the dots on the menu, and the banner is a little...out of place.

You should add, "Whatever" to your poll on the index page.

Hmm... Really? I rather like my orange dots. Well, if two of you talk about it then I'll think about it. As for the banner, I agree. Nice photo, but it has nothing to do with programming. I think tomarrow I'll generate a nice new one in PSP.

The poll doesn't use databases or anything, it's very simple. So maybe in a week or so I'll post a new poll and display the results of this one. I can't actually display the results as they are currently all the time. But just because you asked, so far it's 80% all lowercase, 20% all capitals.

All capitals? Who does that? I don't think it would be very easy to read and kind of hard to follow. I don't know, maybe it is just me...

Maybe they just type with the CAPS LOCK ON. That would be OK, if you were used to it. But personally, I agree, I like lower case much better.

I'd vote for "whatever" in the poll. I tend to mix Proper Caps and ALL CAPS for commands, but in variables I usually have all lower case.

Really? Alright, maybe this afternoon. But all the old votes still count.

PS, @Jerico2day: Heh. Whoops. I'll fix that this afternoon, too.

I code in all caps.. it's much easier to follow, you can pick out the parts easier.. all my vars are lowercase, and all function/commands are capped, the way it should be done in BASIC^_^

Really? If you still have it, can I see the banner? I was just wondering what I could do about that banner. Maybe you could post it or something?

I didn't think about people who prog in caps and lowercase. That's why I don't want to put a "whatever" option, because anyone who did, say, commands in caps and vars in lc. Then everybody would just choose whatever. What do you use most?

Scratch that, just made my own. How do you like it? Not programming specific, but it's not programming inspecific ( ) either.

EDIT: Now it is why not remove the (EDIT zoomed fence image and make the whole site fit in the space that the banner takes (simple width="")

Actually, the zoomed fence just takes up the extra space between the 780px wide banner and the screen. That way it can adjust between a few different resolutions.

force the whole site to sit in the banner, it would look better (i think so at least) then center it using <center>

Yeah, but my multi-res compatability would disappear. And plus, fullscreen it seems more - complete

PS - Notice my sigs have fixed themselves

Yes, but everything else would be smaller or bigger, to scale, also

i think a nice thin banner where egeneric works title is would look much better... and also, don't repeat the pic throughout the cell..

I personally, like the banner. It adds mood. I do agree about not repeating it though. It needs to be in a table, or better oriented in a table. Here's a thought on it: fade one side to a solid color (say the right side to black), then put it in a table right aligned and color the background black. Then no matter what the resolution of the computer view is, it will always look good. Another thought (and what I did with my site) is to simply limmit it to a table 800 in width and give the body a solid color that goes with the theme of things (in my case: charcoal);

Finally, object oriented programming using Dark Basic with a new C++ style translator - DOOP. You can get it here for free (BETA):

There it is. That was the best I could do fading, as I couldn't find a "fade to black" thing in PSP. But it kind of has a ragged look, so it kind of looks OK. Oh, and I finally fixed that tutorial. What do you think of it?

Of course

Are you sure they look that bad orange?

Nah, I agree, I'm just trying to find the right shade of blue.

I found a really good blue once, how about the colour that you have for the news bars, but a little bit darker

Yeah, that would be very good. I'd have to change my counter, of course... Couldn't read it on that all-blue sidebar.

if you're going to set it to 800 pixels instead set it to 799 I have a horizontal scroll bar at 800x600 res..

The banner is icky all jaggody like that... what you want to do, if you have a larger version of it, is to let psp resample it when you shrink it, if that's an option. If not, take the larger version and blur it slightly, then shrink it.

If that's impossible, don't worry about it, it's not *that* bad..

Otherwise I think the site looks good.. after you remove the orange dots... maybe you should set it to a gray of some shade..

I'm getting to those dots. Anybody know how I can fade to a specific color in PSP 8? And doesn anyone know how to fade an image to black?

Also, I posted the results to the poll (and put up a new one)

Put in the new poll results. I'm getting to the orange dots...

The FPS vote was only 59%! I was expecting more

You fixed the horizontal scroll bar, looks good, but orange dots are fine, but if you do that, you need to change the blue boxes surrounding the text to an orange shade so it matches.

Yeah, I like the boxes blue, so I'll probably just change the dots.

Also, when I got Firefox, I noticed that there was a horizontal scrollbar. There was none in IE, but it has since been fixed.

Added a Java applet to show the poll results, so now there's a bar graph. I also fixed a few problems with the poll itself

I plan to change those dots later today.
