Blue v2 does not support flash movies. It was a rather frivolous feature and not really that useful for many people, it would have been quite difficult to implement in the new version so I left it out.

Well, I've very loosely used flash type menus with dbpro - simply by using the execute file command in dbpro to execute a menu/presentation etc. whilst leaving dbp running in the background. Any needed events from within flash, like selecting an item from a menu for example, need to be saved to a file and then opened by the dbp program that is running. The interchange between the flash screen and the dbp screen is not completely seamless, but its not bad - no jumping to windows or anything stupid like that.

I've used flash to draw a template for my character screen GUI then converted to a .bmp (I like the gradients)but have yet to get a flash animation with in my game. Would love to see it done.

I want to do flash cutscenes in my game - and I was going to buy blue 1 for my recently aqquired DBPro. However, I waited until blue 2 because it looked like it would be better - but now there's no flash gadgets! Please put support for flash back in Rob!

Flash writes vars to text only was supported until version 5, later it relays on php asp or other script languages.
I think that animated gui or banners or cut scenes would be great.
The addition of this capability adds to the program flexibility to create, may be the "this program das it all" approach is a non sense since you model in one prog texture in other convert in another... so why not animate 2d in a third party one?

I honestly can't think of anything more useless than Flash support inside a DirectX games language. Write your own gui/menu systems.

Ok Richard I understand, maybe some kind of key frame animator and 2d layout would be helpfull
I recall something like a menu editor... I mean to speed up the process...

Sorry but it's not going to happen, there are far more important things to concentrate on for us. If you need keyframe support et all, use Director instead of DB. Actually, Director does have some really cool 3D features now and can easily make good cross-platform games.

I would say that the menu system in a game is probably the very least of your worries. Look at the menus in most top titles, it's little more than some clickable text and a few sliding bars

why not export those to .avi format and play those in DB?

I've never hear anywahere that DB natviely can read or display flash files...

However, if you want to use flash to develop your cutscenes then that is not too difficult. x1b's suggestion is just what you would have to do. Export the flash movie to frames. You could do it in layers as well.

I didn't use DBPro with this method, but when I made a Bomberman clone "Bomber Joe" I used flash to animate my characters and to build my gui and other animated parts.

It helps to make a lot of graphics using vector graphics because you can export the rater images in different resolutions and not have to start from scratch.

A good plugin idea would be to render SVG tag. I would attempt it if I had time. I think it would be a very powerful addition to a game engine. Using vector graphics wih in the engine and having the interaction like the pick and mouseover internal would be really cool.

Oh I'm of to my class !

Cheers
