I'm thinking of purchasing this but I need to know to those of you who have it, can you create your own character/model? Also your own scene? Like can you draw your own stuff with the mouse?

It's very limited, if you want to make some cool games you'd better wait for FPS creator, or learn Dark Basic Pro and buy that.

And I couldn't get it working properly on my XP machine (even with the patch)...

If your in the UK, you could come to the convention, where, apart from meeting the wonderful me, there may be a video (or something) of FPSC...

Yeah, right. You'll have to learn the annoying ways of modeling.
Get DBP unless you're a noob to programming.

The default editor is fine.

3d Game Creator.....getting your own model inside is extremely painful. And you're limited to making these type of games:

You walk around and shoot and/or smack dumb enemies. Then there's a boss at the end. There's obstacles on the ground to annoy you, and random stuff on the ground to pick up which at first glance does not appear to do much. Basically the game is designed for you and you pick out the filler environments, models, music, and textures. Oh, and you can change the letters and background image on the title/instruction screen. That's about it.

Get DarkBasic Professional, even if you have never programmed. I got DBC first, and wish I'd gotten Pro.

Is this TCA last ditch attempt to get a female to attend the convention .

Assuming she/he/it is female that is.

The 3d chat is coming...
In the meantime, come in the IRC. Ask me for details!!.

Not really - you'll see a lot more advertising for the Convention (on the 23rd & 24th of October) in the few remaining days...

If if he/she/it could make it, then all the better...
