Ive got the 1.13 upgrade for dbc, but i can see me sprites or sometimes text in resolutions > 800,600!?. Does it have something to do with colour depth? Please help as Ive been doing this a while and this particulaer game dosent require alot of fps/speed.

Thanks

if you have a 3dfx card then you might get problems, if you don`t have a 3dfx card but are running in 16 bit colour depth then I suggest you increase it, if the GFX card wont go any higher then I suggest you pop down the shops and get one that does (assuming you have somewhere to put it....spare agp or pci slot for example), anything that can`t go over 16 bit is probably on borrowed time anyway (being that old and all )

Mini ATX cases suck.

do you have the latest radeon drivers?
do the demonstaration bits of code work correctly?
I upset classic once by tweaking the gfx card settings, have you been playing with settings, things that affect nothing else can upset DB for some reason.
what version Directx do you have? if 8.0 or lower then try upgradeing
classic doesn`t like multimonitor so if you have a tv or second monitor plugged in then disable it and try again or unplug it and reboot, other than that I have no idea, when classic programs start on this machine I get a screen full of white and black strips for a second before the code runs, other than that classic works fine here.

DarkBasic can be funny that way.

I know that normally if you're asking way too much power from DB then it'll start missing stuff out (music, etc), but I can get 60fps+ from DB with a Radeon 9600 at 1024x768!

Seriously, dunno.

Everything mentioned above about upgrades, ive got and only use 1 monitor dell 19" crt at 32 bpp. And This program only asks for 1 sprite(at the beginning of the programming it!). It works fine at 640,480 on everything and my monitor dosent even have that setting to change to.(obviously due to my gfx card). But even if I add SET DISPLAY MODE 640,480,{8,16,24,32} to anything i lose all sprites, 3d models still work, discovered text works now, 2d shapes work EG box, line. All except sprites. Bladdy annoyed. But if i rem out the SET DISPLAY MODE command it works, so as you see its the command if set i lose all sprites!!!!

AAHHH! <light dawns>, you do realise that when you swap display modes or set one that all the sprites etc will get flushed out of memory and need to be reloaded?, if you change modes then reload your sprites (they are in a "load sprite" function aren`t they?), just call your load sprites function after a screenmode swap, happens to all of us.
