Hi Ollie,
Just incase you hadnt solved this already, this is the start of what i think you want to acheive, this lets you swap between characters using 1-4, now this is very simple code and does not cover all characters shooting or following, though with thought it could be developed into that.
The main thing i have to say about this is, you are asking a little too much to start with, " how do you make a game where you have 4 different players" etc. thats some heavy stuff there man, i havnt seen any games made in DB out there that do what you ask yet, so you have to ask why... ask a bit at a time and youll get answers.
Anyway i hope this helps a little, sorry it is slightly messy code.

Good Luck

I believe you need to do something like this:

I umm...well, I don't know if that's right (I'm at work and can't test it before I submit) but anyway, just trying to help. Plug it in and see what goes

ORRRRR...lol you can do something like this (man I need the help file)...

The idea behind this is to reset the object pivot, but I see you already have them rotated 180 degrees... maybe if you take that out...? perhaps if you combine this code with the previous code. Always a help: look up the monster hunt tut. (3rd person view). http://developer.thegamecreators.com/?f=t01/3d_tutorial_4

cheers again!

lol

Part of solving the problem is actually noticing that the problem is there in the first place
