I remember last compo about this time, there was a thread from Rich with a list of all successfully uploaded compo entries... will there be such a list this time?

when I finally upload my entry, I'd like to confirm that it's properly uploaded, and I think everyone would like an idea of how many entries have been entered...

The engine for that particular FPS was not coded by us. I used BSP's. You should come on MSN now.

I have unfortunately decided to withdraw my game, Gang Wars of New Canada. It saddens me because I *REALLY* want to get that Retro Gamer subscription :-(

It costs $190 for me to get in in Canada :-(

Anyways, my comp was messed up for 2 weeks and now I have two full time jobs. You know how it goes...

EDIT: Did I say Retro Gamer is my favourite mag? I have just 2 issues because they cost over $20 each... I will never get sick of retro gaming--- hell, I have a Commdore 64 right next to my PC

Alas... woe is me.

Ya know, a working entry that is a little short is better than no entry at all. I suspect that there will be a fair amount of prize swapping after the contest. I for one would have no use for a retro game magazine subscription.

how many people are actually entering this year? so far there are 18 entries that have been submitted, but there are still 87 prizes to be won. Does this mean that rich will randomly pick members of the forum to give prizes to, or will each entrant receive 4 or 5 prizes?

Part of solving the problem is actually noticing that the problem is there in the first place

Doubt that, I know I'd be very mad if I worked my butt off to get an entry done, and then say someone on the forums just get something for free.

Anyways, I haven't uploaded my entry yet. Like last time, I'm making my "under 1 week" attempt at an entry. Had started a project when the competition was innitially launched, but I didn't finish it. So you'll be seeing snake from me.

Mine says unzipped 100% but gameplay untested... Does this mean they couldn't get the game to run or they haven't got around to playing it yet

submitted mine(don't know if it works though). it was a 3 week snake game and is quite possibly the worst snake/nibbler based game ever.

What? Why would you download your own compo entry unless you're the judge?

??Why does the tutorial crash??
(Oh, wait. I removed the tutorial level by accedent, or put it in media)

Downloading is a status message from the compo entry page. Dodo is not downloading, Richard is.

I'm glad to see that my entry has made it into the Working 100% category. I'm always a little nervous when someone tries to run a program on new machine. Too many times have I seen mysterious errors pop up on what should be a fully functional program.

Ack! I had alot of trouble E-mailing my program... first of all, I have only 56k and it took my computer an hour to attach the file. Then, each time it got to 99% it would just stop ... Then I burned it to a disk and went to my local library. I still encountered the same type of errors. So I finnaly decided to FTP it.
I'm still not sure it worked correctly so I'm waiting for my game to appear on the list...

Well... I'm not expecting to get high marks on my graphics and audio so I'm relying on my gameplay to pull me through...lol

Perhaps they will award multiple prizes based on your place... First in a catagory gets 5 prizes, 2nd gets 3, 3rd 2, ect...

Walaber - Cool! I'll be looking forward to seeing how you do

Well, I finally installed DBPro after 2 weeks of downtime, and have been working my asterisk off on my game. There were many things I didn't do that I wanted to, and many things I implemented that I didn't know was possible, so it works out It took me HOURS just to get the fades properly working!

And to top it all off, I woke up this morning with the flu. Argh. I will put my game in the Announcements forum sometime tomorrow.

Good luck all

I know how you feel, I may have written two dozen tech demos, but this is technically the first DBP game that I can say is complete. I guess I work best under deadlines.

Same Zircher.

---------------------
Going to work all of my Saturday today on my snake entry. Seemed pretty crappy until I added 1 or 2 elements that I think actually made my game fun.

As of now I don't have any sound or music, so I'm a bit worried in that catagory. Hopefully I can get a decent ranking on my graphics, I mean, it's snake after all.

I uploaded a fixed version of my game so Rich apperantly didn't see that.

A bugged game that I updated but Rich didn't see the update is better than no game.

Should I submit again to make sure it got uploaded? Will that count as late?
