Why is there a always a black screen when running db executables? It shows up before the program/game appears that you've made. It would be nice to be able to put a loading screen there instead.

it is possible to create your own loading screens.

have a look at some commands

backdrop on / backdrop off
color backdrop
cls

etc..

If no-one gives your an answer to a question you have asked, consider:- Is your question clear.- Did you ask nicely.- Are you showing any effort to solve the problem yourself

i dont think you understood my question right.

when any db executable is run there is always a black screen for a certain amount of time at the very beginning of the execution (most noticeable when the executables are windowed). the period of time the black screen is there depends of the size of the program etc.
isnt there any way to work around this?

Are you setting the resolution inside the program itself? If so, use the IDE to set the resolution. If you don't have DBP, you're kinda stuck with the black screen I'm afraid.

It's there with every single game on the planet, because when your monitor switches its display resolution and/or while DirectX / OpenGL initializes, there is nothing to display. As Jopie said it exists for all of two seconds, which is much shorter a responseless load time than some games have.

If you are thinking about creating a splash or something like that, here's a thought. If you have another language such as Visual Basic, you could create a Form that has your splash, display it on the screen for a bit (using a timer or a custom time job) and then after that use Shell() to load up your DBP executable. If I think you are going where I think you are going, that should do it.
