Hi all,

I know that lots of the people here will have an active "opinion" on the results of the forth-coming US election. As such, I'm sure we are going to see various topics appear on this forum relating to it. So here's a heads-up before it all starts:

You all have ONE SINGLE WARNING to keep things calm and in-offensive. That means if you make one, just ONE stupid dumb-ass offensive post that slags at another member of the forum (for having their own opinions), or goes off on some wild mouth-rush, I will ban your account without any right to appeal, for whatever period of time I deem suitable.

I have no problem with you discussing politics here and I'm happy to see you talk about the election results also. But please think very carefully about what you post (for a change). If you can't keep the threads at least semi-intelligent, they will be removed.

Here's hoping I don't have to actually enforce any of this.

Cheers,

Rich

It was indeed the reference to dumb-ass. Plus we tend to be a lot more reserved in this country, one tends to politely ask if it's ok to offend first.

It's a back-handed compliment in a way, more of a dig at the reserved British attitude rather than the forward American one.

Dear fellow members of the forum, may I have permission to say something which may be regarded as mildly offensive?

I think it's gonna end messy, regardless of who wins - it's so close right now and there's bound to be allegations of vote rigging or something equally tiresome.

I'll be glad when it's all over - it's bad enough having our own moronic polititians on TV without those two as well.

Yes, there's going to be a lot of cat fighting no matter who actually gets more votes... but it has to end eventually.

RobK, if it's a pot shot at either of those 'people' - then I don't see how it could be offensive - one thing about this election, I doubt either candidate is anyones ideal president of anything.

Did you know if you stick a couple of cardboard wings on the side of a transparent plastic lemonade bottle you've got a rocket as 100% approved by Blue Peter?

Did you read my hidden post about irrelevant but interesting facts in threads a couple of weeks ago?

I'm not sure if that applies to bears

wow that's incredibly dangerous way to go about doing it..

What we did in highschool is pretty much the same, except We used a base, in which the bottle was attached, and held down via two pins across the neck of the bottle..

Then when we got it to the desired pressure, we'd take a rope connected to the pins and yank them off, and of course the base would need to be properly anchored so that it doesn't shift and end up pointing at you..

You can also get a greater pressure than you can doing it through that link.. and there's not much risk of it exploding the bottle, as they are very strong, but if you pump enough pressure, it will explode water, and generally no pieced of plastic or parts would fly anywhere, but always make sure to be wearing proper apparel
