that's awesome dude, your game has both good graphics and a excellent gameplay .I've only finished the first level so far,but it looks very polished , and i like the level design, simple but effective.
Anyway i'm looking forward to playing the full version, and please add the level ed , that would make a great addition to it
BTW,i remenber that platformer game of yours, dumbo,i suppose the version on your site is the full game? cause i only played the beta IIRC.

Looks and plays really great. How do you find the time to write so many good games?

Only had time for a quick play - will have a good go tonight.

Amazed you got such good speed of out DB classic! Love the camera shake effect. Clouds are great. Speed is just right.

Only problems I have found so far:

1. Ship sometimes get stuck on river edges with no way of escaping. All you can do is rotate.

2. The rotating sawblade thingy does not collide with you. Only the blade itself hurts you.

3. The black spiky mines appear and dissapear when they are near top of screen instead of when they are off screen. Ruins the seamless effect. They just 'popup'.

@Griswald: Yes, visit http://www.drewsgames.com to get the full version of Dumbo's Adventure...

Has anyone completed it yet? The second stage boss is my favourite -a nightmare to code though.

Ok, thanks

btw, i've finished the game; the first boss was great but i think that the second one (the big ice block) was too easy to beat, although i liked the way it divided itself into smaller blocks.

This pirate game is very good
If you're giving it away as freeware, would I be able to patch it into my main game as a minigame when its completed?

I am the lead programmer at red spark studios
I also have a blog on how to make a game engine

This is quite fun and enjoyable. My main concern is the weird wavy lines where the water overlaps the shore. DBC is to fault there. (Use View button on bottom right of post)

Edit: Hawkeye, you got that quote in your sig wrong. It's "Your wife is death. HOW?!! No idea. But it is murder! REVENGE!"

Yep, I found that problem on one of my test systems, but not on the other - DB to blame

Full version will be here in time for Christmas fellas', featuring 3 more levels, bug fixes, improved controls, joypad support, options and a front end.

Minus the 12 year old voice acting and the inability to move backwards, good job. Also, this doesn't have sliding collision, it has static collision. Good game overall.

Drew-

This reminds me a load of a PS1 game called "Shipwreckers!". I enjoyed it a lot, and this game is very great indeed!

Good job!

The voice actor is 16 years old, Mark Lumsden.
The collision on cliffs is sliding collision.
Ships cannot sail backwards.

Thanks for the feedback.

I think you may set the screen depth at 32 (it also can be a problem with the dbc engine).

thats just a z ordering problem, best way to fix it is make everything 10* smaller then the effect will be 10* harder to notice, however in dbp you can do set camera range and set the 1st value less than 1 which you cannot do in dbc
