Ok Iam working on a file directory thingy and I need to be able to display the icon of a file or folder is this possible?

Probably.. OR a simple hack is use a standard image for file and folder? Any reason why that isn't suitable? It could be extended to recognise certain common extensions (like Doc, Zip, EXE, BMP, JPG, etc)

u could make a folder icon using DB's box and line commands creating the icon within the source code. or using a data statement to build up the folder icon using the dot command.

you could also copy one out of windows and save it as an image file.

many options are available.

The way I tend to do things like that is print screen a folder (ie screen shot) then use a picture editing app to crop the image to the icon I want (often 48x48 or 32x32) then set the background transparent. This may be the best way.. Then you can include custom icon sets! I RECCOMEND the Noia set of icons. They're REALLY nice.. I would attach them but there is over 20Mb (uncomressped) and compression dont really do much.
