Hi lag,

If you want a user banned just email one of the mods or Richard Davey. Yes, SoliderZero is annoying but it hasn't quite gone as far as spamming the forum yet.

What about this one

Not exactly being kind to request someone is banned is it? Can't you just email a mod about it instead of adding a couple more usless threads to the forum?

Exactly. It would be spamming if SoliderZero knew that he shouldn't post so many threads before he posted them. But anyway I think he now knows not to post to many threads all at one time now.

The whole ethos of this forum is a fairly liberal one - sometimes that means putting up with muppets. C'est la vie gentlemen.

Every post calling for a user gets lock due to silliness at some point. Best not let that happen.

Two general rules I follow

- Don't post calling for mod action

- Don't post complaining about mod action

but not being rude but should the mods be slightly tougher on newcomers making sure they do not slip up twice?

or is it tgc's preferred way to to turn a blind eye to newcomers on here?

No, it is the preferred way to get by with as little trouble.

I'm not turning a blind eye to anybody, but the fact is, if I'm going to lock something, the reason better be clear cut. And, while SOldier Zero *may* be a complete idiot he hasn't posted anything offensive or wrong. So the topics stay.

He's been warned so if in future it happens again then topics may be locked.

But not now.

i just find it amazing when i become vocal about something, i get frowned upon.

if a lot more people complained about users doing something they shouldnt, i wouldnt be on this thread talking about it.

how can what i complained about be small?

i consider myself a fairly well known user on this network, well most oldbies know me.

all because i stand up, people hate me for it?

take a step and realise whats happening on the forum, you'll be suprised.

Problem is more a fact of tradition and reality..

In a sense this forum was built with a very small community, and the admin was basically the only moderator for a very long time.

When you have such a small community basically it is very easi to have a more liberal attitude toward the users because it is far easier to talk to them 1:1 rather than everything being done on a broad scale.

Problem is, this little village became a bustling metropolis over night almost. As any village mayor, Rich obvious wants to hold onto the values which made this forum a very pleasent place to stay. Unfortunately he also has been *forced* into getting a firmer hand taken around here.

The state the forum is in, really boils down to a simple conflict of interests(, and egos).
Just a tip Lag, but look at how this thread has gone; then cast your memory back and ask yourself if it seems familiar.

We're well aware that Soldier Zero has been posting a large number of threads (and posts) in a short period of time, it's quite hard to miss them. However, as is the case with young people who crave attention, the concept of being on a forum where people all over the world can read everything you say is a little too much to comprehend for them and as can be seen with a number of prime examples on this very forum, they become a little too excited with being able to voice their opinions and have to post every tiny thing that pops into their head.

A ban is hardly warranted so usually we’ll just warn them and tell them to calm down with the posting and in most cases they do, however, other times we may have to give them a 24-hour ban to put them in their place but in regards to Soldier Zero, this won’t have to happen because he seem to have gotten the picture now.

Also, with the great influx of mods, usually one of us will be quite quick to pick up on a user getting a little too comfortable with the ‘Post Message’ button, especially as we now have to approve new posts before they appear. For this reason, it’s not nearly as necessary as in the past for forum users to post a message about another user, the exception is of course when we encounter a user with an excrement-fetish who somehow find the need to fill this forum with some very sickening images.
