I've read all the other threads and I finally decided to try out Blue IDE about a month ago. Although it seems Blue IDE is indeed superior to the default of DarkBASIC Pro, I must concur with the statement that "The default editor is fine"...not great...but fine.

I give the default a 6.0 out of 10 and Blue gets an 8.5 out of 10.
Flame away!

P.S. Is there no "find and replace" option in Blue?

Yes there is. You can either right click and choose search then replace or use the edit menu to do the same.

I cant get blue to work, it gives me a 'component 'TABCTL32.OCX' or one or its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid' error.

Do a search for TABCTL32.OCX on Google, it is a slightly more flexible tabbing component which is used in other software so it is available for download.

Replace can be found in Edit > Search > Replace

BlueIDE could be improved, but I think it needs a ground-up rewrite (although the IDE *works*, have a look at the source code to see some of the completely daft ways in which the editor does things), the other IDE I saw screenshots of looks very promising, so it'll be interesting to see how that turns out.

Yeah, I use BlueIDE and it works great. I don't get why some people still use the default IDE if there are so many people switching from Classic to Pro that complain about it.

I love the default IDE! I just don't like the way it keeps giving that damn access error or whatever error it is!

Ahh thanks, it is in the right click menu but it isn't in the edit menu (that's where I expected it to be). Maybe I don't have the latest version.

I used Blue until last 3 weeks.
Don't know the reason, but when it compiles my code, it gets an error that doesn't exists in the program.
I had a look on all the error message but all is fine, also because I can compile it in the default editor without problems.
So, now, I have to work again on the default editor & isn't so fine because the debug mode doesn't work...

I tried to change the source for BlueIDE to Visual Studio .NET but I keep getting errors that files aren't in the right place.

Hi there.
Did you install 5.7 patch just before your blue ide died?
It definitely killed my blue ide. I think.
Quite frustrating overall.
1) I had some bad problems with the default ide corrupting the project file. Got blue ide and started working again.
2) Then I encountered the issue with the ng dll that causes the "dll already exists" error when you try to restart it for a new level. Had to postpone work on loading levels.
3) Thinking that the ng issue might be related to me not having the newest version of dbp I installed 5.7 which killed my blue ide like I said.

I haven't actually done any work that might be called progress for about two weeks now. I have spent the whole time trying to find out what I have done wrong only to discover after hours of searching that the problem is bug related rather than my own fault. It's this kind of situation that makes one of those nice expensive development packages look so appealing. But that’s dbpro for you, some days it’s the most wonderful software imaginable, the rest of the time its the evil black hole that all your time and sanity is getting sucked into.

Sorry for the rant. Needed to get it out of my system. I mostly feel better now. Mostly....

I love default editor and never had much trouble I can't work around. I got a bug fix on it at some point which stopped things like function folding, which only annoyed me because I used the little minus signs as indictators for the function (without having to look at the code itself)
