Microsoft have FINALLY released a UK version of Hotmail!
If this wasn't totally sweet, a nice 250MB mailbox, and I was able to get the email name I wanted this time.

So I've woken to a pretty cool surprise today
Anyone in the UK if you want to get your names before someone else does, then you might want to hurry up and sign up your account.

Anyone else thinking it's a chance to sign up the name they want; unfortunately this service is *only* available to UK users.
Now i can finally have a Microsoft/Hotmail Account again.

?
Microsoft US and Microsoft UK are seperate entities, they might be housed under the same corporation; but they are inherintly seperate.

I have no idea why you linked the Microsoft US site, because you will find no information about this on there; so if you mind explaining that would be useful.

www.MSN.co.uk is where you'll find information about it; this said, i'm not entirely sure your from the UK, thought you were spanish or something.

i have no want to ever use gmail.
Google as a whole disgusts me, and this new mail service is just another pathetic PR attempt to sway the masses to using thier services; the more people who use thier services the more they can make on advertisement.

Stupid really, Microsoft Search is free and great with no Adverts, Microsoft Hotmail is free and great.. ties into so much of Windows again no Adverts.

Why the hell would I want to use products that actually PROMOTE the use of spam!? Be a cold cold day in hell when I let that happen.

Gmail has a teeny tiny little advert box on the right...Hotmail (and Yahoo for one) has tonnes of huge ads. Although a UK exclusive hotmail with more space is not a bad idea.

who the hell would need 1gb anyways... that said I have 2GB + unlimited attachment size, full RichEdit e-mail editing (online), instant access.

this said I also have a free email account which provides me with unlimited inbox size, personalised account, cheap SMS & Call Rates through the website, instant access from Cellphone or Internet, RichEdit controls. Only adverts on that site are those for the upgrade services on thier tarrif

i also like the sms email alerter for both of them; lets you know who is trying to contact you. MSN even has that for Messenger, so that when someone you want to talk to comes online it txt's you telling you so.

gmails got a handy dandy email notifiar that sits in your taskbar tray and updates every few minutes at your liking...

That said... who needs 2gb.. My point was that it's more than enough for email space...

To tell you the truth.. I'd take free gmail before whatever fee it is you pay a month

which is all well and good if you have a pocketpc that you carry constantly attached to the net with a cellphone.

the one i have unlimited space is free, hotmail/msn premium is £14.99 registration.

This not only covers the email though, but access to premium zones on Msn.co.uk/.com ... so I can view full high bandwidth trailers, free Microsoft internet access (via a phoneline/broadband), exclusive free music, cut price online music, etc..

Raven, let me help you. When you pay $15 for email it is no longer free and that is why you don't see advertisements.

And by microsoft search, I assumed you meant the new msn search, which has the same ad system as google. But actually has more, because it puts the sites on the top and bottom.

The MSN search is interesting. It's definitely got a smaller dataset to work on, the results aren't nearly as varied as some others, but the interface is quite nice (especially those slidy-bars, functionally they're quite useless for anyone who wants to know what they are doing, but for the don't-have-a-clue type people its aimed it, it'll work well).

where? Microsoft Search provides purely search results + standard Microsoft Footer & Title Header.

unlike google which shows adverts at the top, bottom as well as weening out websites which they 'recommend' but usually have nothing to do with what you actually searched for.

Ok Raven.

I performed searches on microsoft and google.

The term: 'I am a fluffy bunny'

Results:

Microsoft had 3 sponsored sites (ads) on top and bottom and one on the right side.

Google had no ads ANYWHERE on the page.

Google also never has ads on the bottom, ever. You stupid, stupid squirrelboy.

microslop are bringing out a search engine called "underdog" to try to topple google in the search engine stakes.

note to Ceo running that part of microslop : GOOD LUCK MATE U GOT NO HOPE, spend bills cash on a waisted project and pick a better name, you wont topple googles name branding.

As far as I'm concerned I only use hotmail because it nicely links to messenger which is about the only thing my parents seem able to use on the laptop I gave them (and I've tried). Nicely links them to email and the webcam which is a good alternative to the phone. So I have one of my computers with it set up to keep in touch with them. Apart from that I wouldn't touch it because of the massive amount of spam (although is mainly because of hotmails fame I guess), slow access, and sometimes crashtastic functionality. Ok, so it's now got 250Mb, which is pretty good, but it would never be my first choice (only really started using it this year when I set my parents up).

I prefer Gmail to Hotmail. It seems faster, and cleaner, and overall seems to have a more useful interface (with a couple of annoyances I admit). Oh, and Gmail doesn't rub out your account until something like 9 months of inactivity (isn't hotmail only 1 month? - at least it was a few months ago if I remember rightly) But neither compare to my main email I get from my ISP. Can't remember max main online storage size, but something like 25Gb, and I don't even know my max attachment size. Also can be accessed online too, so don't need to setup an email account everywhere I go (which is obviously the main advantage of gmail/hotmail). Now if only my parents would accept the email account from my ISP (can assign a dozen or so) which I have created. Or more likely stop using hotmail. Heh, always the same. Once they have learned one thing they don't want to know about anything else.

As far as I'm concerned online email services are best for spam magnets. ie. order everything and subscribe to every service with a free online account.

Oh yeah, and my normal .com hotmail account has finally been upgraded to 250Mb about 4 days ago. No need for .co.uk version.

Cheers

Oh, and I've got a couple of gmail invites left if anyone wants one. Just about everyone I know has one now, so just ask

I am 99% probably lying in bed right now... so don't blame me for crappy typing

Raven, you are such a flying ass. You are just trying to be "cool" by speaking out against Google. Really hardcore stuff you have going on there.

GMail is better and you know it; More space for free, no ads (I saw no ads, and I have like a bajillion acounts with GMail), larger attachments. Stop being stupid and actually use FACTS in your post, not stuff from your little world known as your mom's basement.

Doesn't anyone else find this ironic? What the hell do you think Microsoft are doing? Microsoft are the main culprit of shoving products in your face to try and get you to purchase more from them. Do you even know why Microsoft US and Microsoft World are seperate companies? Because it's against the law for a company to have such a high percent of the market share and that's literally what Microsoft has. You think Google are trying to attract more customers, that's what Microsoft have been doing for years! The only difference is that Google make their money solely from advertisements, where as Microsoft make it from both the ads and selling you more of their own products... bug-ridden products at that.

What the heck does it matter what email system you use. Just use what you like and leave it at that. This kind of debate is utterly pointless.
