Does the DB Pro IDE work for DB Classic? That is, thisone here...

http://darkbasicpro.thegamecreators.com/?f=ide

The reason for asking, and not trying is that I'm giving my DB Classic to my friend's son. I'm not installing it just to test the IDE, and possibly screw up my installation of Pro!

If it doesn't, is there an IDE that does work with Classic?

No, the DBP IDE will not work as it's a completely different compiler, and I'd imagine it uses different command lines. However, 'Dark Edit', also created by Guy (the same person who made the DBP IDE) was made for DBC:

It's the editor of choice for most DBC users.

That's what I was looking for, cheers!

I couldn't remember what I used to use in my DB Classic days.

People are looking into making DBC editors now actually. About a week or two ago there were multible threads were I ended up posting the command line info for DBC, so hopefully that means something will happen

The default DBC editor stinks, go with DarkEdit. More than 2 files open at once, more lines visible at once, more friendly with windows editor, syntax highlighting, better search and replace functions...do I need to go on?

The default editor has to change your screen resolution every time you minimise.

DarkEdit is popular, but it's not the only editor...

I always liked CodeKeeper best, but then I wrote everything I ever did in the default editor because I hated the resolution switch of Windows based editors, but that was years ago. These days I would probably use CodeKeeper again.
