Are there any free Flash game makers?
Or at least ones with trials.

I know what you mean about Flash.

If you want to be rich, make a BASIC flash language.

the rules state you have to use Macromedia Flash, i'm not entirely sure why.. but that said the only Flash program I know with programming abilities is the Macromedia one.

I'm not buying it just for a compo, the trial version lasts 30-days

Quote: "If you want to be rich, make a BASIC flash language"

I'd rather not have to pay Macromedia royalties
It's like saying, let's make a basic version of Java heh

ActionScript 2.0 is pretty comprehensive now, I really like the ability to do 3D Vector Graphics.. and while my mind instantly goes back to 'BattleZone' the new SonyEricsson S700i phone site, just shows what you can do with real-time vector graphics even in a resource interpreted hog like Flash.

to be honest I can't actually think of anything interesting to make which has a duck in it lol

I'm thinking some kind of "Attack of the Ducks" mass killing thing.

Just downloaded the trial.

What's coding in Flash like?

Meh, I've never really played a Flash game that was decent... most play like crap. I'd be more interested if they didn't force you to make it in Flash.

Programming Flash is well it's kinda like a C-Basic probably the best way to describe it.

I think Peasent Quest on the HomeStarRunner.Com website was very well produced. It's more about the developers abilities than what is at your disposal, as ActionScript is a very capable Scripting Language.

i was going to say that actually.. Giles hasn't come back yet, to post a link or any other information.

no point in starting a new thread about a competition
if he comes back then fine we can leave it to go back on-topic, if not... if anyone has any other competitions that are interesting then wouldn't mind hearing about them.

the forum Spam has to stop somehow ^_^

1. I wont be entering the compo, not because of the time but the 2/3 large pieces of coursework dumped on me. I will, however, complete my entry (with large modifications) as just a game.

2. The compo details should be on Giles' site...they were once...
