The telephone company just came to my house and says thiers nothing wrong with my phone line. I use AOL(im changing soon) but it use to be 31k not 19k.I dont think a differnt ISP is going to make like a 20k differnce.

Bad telephone line, usually the Telephone companies fault for not fixxing it, and a Squirrels fault for believeing those shiney metal things on the top of the pole are pay-toilets

Spyware, bad line, bad ISP. Fact is most ISPs will often give you half or less of the speed you're supposed to have. The first and only ISP I've ever had that gave me full speed (I've tried four) is Verizon.

also make sure it's not your modem..

a good way to check is to turn on a phone while your internet is on.. if there's a lot of interference (fuzzy noise) then it may be the modem. It may be the modem anyway.. If you got a spare 20, go pick up a new modem and see if you connect faster..

If you don't, take it back

your computer can be at fault as well, what speed is the machine?

If no-one gives your an answer to a question you have asked, consider:- Is your question clear.- Did you ask nicely.- Are you showing any effort to solve the problem yourself

Bad phonline= yes(but not 19k bad)
spyware= no(I use spybot)
modem= no(works at other houses fine, never did testmy.net tho)
computer= Didnt no it affected it, but my computer runs slow on any game at times. Ever since I spilt drink into it and its a laptop....
Getting it replacment parts soon tho. Ill see if that fixes it.

Spybot can't catch everything, you know. I had to buy spyware software to get rid of a lot of the spyware on my computer, and I had already used S&D and Ad Aware.

If your computer is slow it can't process the info as fast, even on DSL my connection is slow due to my computer. ::sings:: Oh I wish a good computer cost 10 dollars, Oh I wish a good computer cost 10 dollars ::stops singing::.
