The frame rate was very jumpy, went from 35 to 60 and back again on lowest detail.

It looks nice, but I'd need to see how it performs before making a judgement - 66fps with just grass and an empty scene is some slow down, was the frame rate locked?

Check out the following topic, I posted code on how to do the effect above, but it also smoothly fades in as well

Yes, suppose it does. Although if that is the case, then getting 35 at times is a bit scary, with no other processes running and just a terrain

It's free plugin. FPS can be controled by number of grass objects and update radius. This plugin is more faster then any similar DBP code.

How can you be sure it's faster? - I mean, I've made a dynamic foliage system recently and it's pretty damn fast. I used a visibility index system which simply re-uses grass objects depending on your position. It does'nt need to do anything but check the arrays to know where to position the grass - there's no distance checking, and it only needs to update itself when you've moved a certain distance. How are you handling it in your plugin?

I tried your demo, but could'nt get the grass range up, like the '+' key isn't working. The grass looks pretty good, but I'm dubious as to how fast it is.
