@Goldeneye Nemesis:

Thanks, I get it so far, but what about the object's rotation. How do I get the object to spin in the correct direction? I've already came up with some code using what you said that finds all the objects in the blast radius, and pushes the objects away from the blast's center by the power equation. But, now I'm still stuck with the object's rotation...

^_^ .. yeah but if you don't keep it in the public interest, Andy looses his own interest in the project.

See you've got to do it as a service to make sure he keeps working on it. Perhaps ppl could comment on what they'd improve based on current FPS (should keep ya'll busy for a few days)

come again? don't understand the question.

Quote: "That's pretty annoying by the way, just bumping it for no reason."

The reason is to keep people interested in the topic. There are a few who no doubt will keep interested no matter what, if it dies below the first page.. people forget.

This has a knock on effect where Andy doesn't see his thread and gives up. (this happened before) It's a symbiotic relationship relaly, people need news from him to keep interested but he needs to know people are interested to actually put the effort in to continue.

I don't see where there is nothing stopping us discussing what we'd like to see. I mean he released something to 2/3 comments that were actually quite disparaging. Would help if people don't just criticise instantly but instead offer some input on what they'd like to see.

Wow! I've missed a load! I guess I've got some explaining to do!

Well I don’t know how old many of you guys are, but I bet a fair lot of you will be at school / college / uni, and you may know how hard it id to devote time to big projects when its comes to crunch time. Crunch time at my university is smack bang around now. All the coursework was handed in today, and exams start in a about three weeks!

That said, three weeks revision time means I WILL now have some time to spend on Goldeneye / Nemesis. I know speculation seems to be rife that I have lost interest in the project, but that couldn’t be father from the truth. I take a book with me everywhere that carries all the Goldeneye ideas and sketches and I sit in lectures just plotting the next addition to the engine
I feel guilty about not being able to spend time on this, but in truth I can’t sacrifice my degree for Goldeneye, heh no matter how much I want too.

Goldeneye is still very much alive, and I will be working on it very soon. There has been a couple of secret demos out that have demonstrated features that the main community are unaware of, and so I think people are going to be blown well away before long. Hell I’ve even done some levelling. There’s some screenies below if the new section on the runway level, a previously unreachable area.

Well I promise to release some more stuff for you to play with as soon as I can. There will be a demo of the finished runway when the last few bits of shine are added. I really do need some help with the levelling, so Chris – get in touch and anyone else who can do it…you’re in. There is a lot to do, and I want to get it done!

Over the summer I’m going to be adding guards and AI, there’s plenty of time to play with that considering my summer holidays are 3-4 months long. If you want to be immortalised in video game history then send me your faces! There will be a list of phrases too for voice acting if anyone wants to take a shot so watch this space.

Ooooo! Voice acting! As it is, my microphone has some, er, built in static and it really sounds great for com talk and the like. Not sure about regular face-to-face interactions, but maybe I can dig up something. Faces, eh maybe... I can't really picture myself at the business end of a ak-74

Right now the levels in the demonstrations are place holders .. erm .. liberated from the N64 ROM

They are rough around the edges, most of the textures are missing, they're not using the portal rendering, meaning it's running one heck of a lot slower than it will be.

Just try to remember this thread marks the game from it's redevelopment in Dark Basic Professional. The engine has been overhauled twice now, and it is likely to go through another testing phase while Andy learns to integrate the Material System.

Believe me I've noted to Andy about the current levels, and something is most definately being done about it. Seeing to it personally. The next demo being put out, probably mid-late June will be taking it to the next level.

If you have any questions about the direction the please post them up. Visuals are my dept. and the Engine itself is Andy (Nemesis') dept.

Ok... I finally downloaded the demo, but the self-extractor defaulted to 'H:\mydocs\My Music\Unknown Artist\HALFLIFE' any idea why?

This isn't a problem our end, it's defaulted to output to $TEMP whatever that is on your computer.

For my this is 'C:\Documents and Settings\Raven-A1JXY9\Local\Temp\', just a case of where it's set on your computer. Would've thought people would know this though.

Seppuku, I wouldn't worry much. The Levels are only there for 'testing' purposes right now. High-Quality versions are under-development.

Edgar, provided you can do Russian

Funnily enough neither do we.

Q: Will you be adding the Tank to the Runway level?
A: Yes. The move to Newton Physics is allowing much more freedom with the levels, and there are plans to not only include all of the vehicle action missions but expand on them.

Personally I look forward to recreating the St. Petersberg Tank Chase with the detail that the film had rather than recreating the mission area that the game had.

Sometimes when files go to wierd places, it is because they have created a virtual drive. I dont know much about it, but my friend tried to install a game but some files went to G drive, which he doesnt have.
