Wasn't at all realistic when i downloaded it - the helicopter decided to spin around whilst the blades stayed still and none of the flying controls worked as the model just flew up and out of the level...

I am the lead programmer at red spark studios
I also have a blog on how to make a game engine

Yes there is something with the joystick slider control that makes DBP think that you have maximum throttle altough you have the slider in the min position. Good to know that there is nothing wrong with my yoystick. If you press 'Y' the simulation goes into keyboard mode, if you think the joystick is too sensitive.

If you just touch the slider when the level starts the pitch comes to a minimum and the heli rests at the ground, the controls are very sensitive just as a remote controlled chopper without gyro.

About the graphics, the rotorblades are animated in the same model so it is next to impossible to make them realistic, maybe if one change the animation rate depending on how much the chopper turns.

Well at least you gave it a try ! Greetz

Oh, it must be that I did not do any perform checklist for joysticks right? Do you have a joystick connected?

I read some more posts about the Work In progress threads, and I recon this post really not suites in here, it is more of an idea then the backbone of a game, more specific a test of the new Newton DLL and wrapper 1.3.

So I guess I should have put the posts in DBPro Generral forum instead of here.

Nope, no joystick. Could you post a keyboard-only version ?

Done, it is now updated so it starts in keyboard mode and if you want you can switch to joystick with 'Y'

Updated with sound !

I just made some tuning and put an onboard camera on the heli, and ... Voila ! ;D

Hello Desert Combat !!!

Exactly the same feel as the apache in Battlefield 1942! If you manage to fly the choppers in DC then you can fly this one immediately with the onboard camera activated ! I even made a looping !

Hard to control but exact and responsive with some training !
