You guys want to read a frigging awesome article, here it is...

http://www.jsonline.com/alive/news/dec04/281287.asp

In case you need more info about what it is.. University of Wisconsin-Madison opened up the skulls of two guys, and implanted electrodes onto their brain.. After a few weeks(or was it months?) time, they were able to control a mouse cursor on a computer, aswell as play pong just by thinking about it.

Check it out!

Wow, that's crazy. This'll lead to creation of cyborgs...you know, people who's lost limbs will get robotic ones put on in place, and they'll have chips put into their brains so they can control the arms...

Crazy.

i knew it, seriously it may be a lot of research but teh idea behidn it is simple. The way i see it, is measure brain patterns while someone is thinking of the colour yellow, then measure the patterns when they think of the colour green, then red, then blue, and then get them to think of the colours in any order, record the patterns that come out, and judge off those readings what colours they were thinking of, and if its right then bam you got urself a colour mind reader, expand the tests to include other things and then try and mix them, so you can eventually get a yellow car driving down a dirt road. thats just to get an image of a persons thought, to controll software is basically just get them to think of moving a mouse right, then record that pattern, then when that pattern is replayed move the mouse right. i tell ya i should run the world's science.

its a cover up. they're actually trying to find excuses to prob everyone and read their thoughts.

as for the computer game, i dont get it... what happens if they think about doing something in advance?

The game would probably be like a new muscle?

Well what if you brain really gets into the game, and when your video game character dies, your brain thinks it's been killed, or shot or something, and starts slowing breathing, and heart-rate, and you die!!!!

Guns arnt the problem, people are the problem, shoot all the people and guns arnt a problem anymore.

No. You just lose control of your muscle. If someone cut your leg off and you didn't lose any blood, would you die?

I would be shocked to see my leg cut off, but then I would remember that they can just give me a cybornetic leg, attach it to my brain and I'm off again. No problem.

Wow, amazing. As Uberwiggett robx, the idea is simple, and the idea of using it to control limbs could be possible. I reckon if you could use a kind of pattern that you hardly ever use(like thinking a different way) then you could use that for controlling limbs/computers/jimmy/whatever without the risk of them going retarded when you think about food, or girls.

Or maybe you should use the nervous system.
Edit: The muscular part of it.

Or just take some wires, and put them into thier back and brain, instead of chopping off the rest of thier body.

What are you talking about? Your brain is you, not an independent being between your ears. The only way IT will "think it's dead" is if you actually think that you're dead. Lol.

Essentially true but tell me, do you make your heart beat? I thought so, the brain can shut down functions like the heart without you wanting it to happen, but the brain can't do that if it's dead so everything ends there....

Who said you can control all of you?

And the brain/body is a lot like Windows:

It uses quite a lot of recources.
It's very unstable.
It does everything for you not telling you what it's doing.
It has thousands if not millions of exploits.
It gets attacked by viruses daily.
It's the only thing humans use(for a brain).
It patches itself often.
It reporduces very often.
Take one part off and it goes down.
Something else.
