Ive finally learned how to build my own models. However animation in Dark basic classic is KILLING ME!
I program and build small games as a hobby not a job....theres no way in hell im paying, what is it...3000$ for 3DS max? Its a great program, but it aint happening.

Ive gone thru dozens of programs that do both modeling and animation and it seems like they all can do just that....just not for Darkbasic. So im looking for a definite answer:

Can correct animations be done in DarkBasic classic WITHOUT having to buy 3DS max?

Thank you.

P.S-if you have an alternative that works please let me know.

well you obviously didnt look very far, try milkshape 3d, [href]www.milkshape3d.com[/href] it costs $25 and does modeling/uvmapping/animating and supports import/export of dbc/dbp .x files although it may require a lil tweaking of the export values you will egt them to work perfectly eventually, it has a 30 days trial version that has no limitations so try that and see if it fits your needs

Oww, this is an easi one!
If you go through the help, you'll find a program created by Mike Bamber.. it's a small program that allows you to edit model positions based on limb movement.

If you go on further you'll find there is a second program that allows you to store and recover limb animation data (a function i wish to hell the'd bring back in dbp!!)

Hopefully I don't need to join the dots

GMAX is for modding games, and games that allow GMAX mods tend to come with special add-ons and filters for GMAX. It's not legal to use GMAX models in your own games. The best use for GMAX is for learning 3DS-Max, like if you plan to go into professional game modelling, GMAX is great for practising in.

There's actually very few suitible modellers when you need animation too, I'd strongly suggest Milkshape, that seems a good stable way to get DB media - personally I use 3DS-Max for limb animated models, but I agree, it's too much money to spend on a hobby.

milkshape was the first program I installed on my computer. The trial ran out ages ago, but my computer crashed and I couldnt even go online. Im gonna download MS3D again and see if I can figure it out in 30 days
Heck if it does everything dark coder says it can AND it works in DBC 1.13 unenhanced.....then Ill buy the package!
