I have noticed several threads lately that are blank with no posts in them. In a while they seem to be populated by the original post.

Because the original poster is still in the trial period, and a mod must've approved the thread without approving the original post, so everyone else will see a blank post

Actually, I believe it works the other way, if you approve the post, it auto-approves the thread.
