If anyone has wanted a good inexpensive tracker that works fantastic in windows then you might be interested in Renoise.

It supports all popular tracker formats, including those that can be imported into DarkBASIC Professional.

It sure beats the pants off of FastTracker or any other DOS/Windows tracker that I've seen. I think all the old amiganauts will have a great time with this software.

Before spending $45 on a tracker, I'd check out modplug tracker, which is free. [href]www.modplug.com[/href]

I've lightly touched it, and it does seem packed with features.

Personally I always find Trackers a little complicated for casual users, like how you have to really learn all the play codes and settings to use them properly - compared to systems in other styles of music editor it can be a lot to take in. The format of most trackers is the same, sorta like C# 4 0FD000, with each part of the hexadecimal value doing something to the note, like loops, pitch sliding, stuff like that. It is fairly easy to put tunes together, it's only really the fancy note control stuff that takes time to learn. I love the control you have with trackers though, I often wish FruityLoops had a tracker view instead of that tired old piano roll.

I'd definately try the demo - and if you can get better results than with Modplug, then it's well worth the £45.

Renoise offerse more features than Modplug, but Modplug is freeware. You get what you pay for. I don't consider 45$ an outrageous purchase for an excellent tracker.

Didn't you program your own tracker in DBP Van?

Yeah, that was based heavily on TCB Tracker from the ST - I've never heard a tune by anyone else but me with it though .

I remember the ST only having 3 channels or was it 3 voices? I can't remember.

Do you happen to have a chart of the frequency's for your notes for your tracker?

I found a guide on the modplug website, but you could figure it out with the replay code supplied with VSD.

I downloaded VSD, but there was no replay code in it.
