Just wanted to bring this program to your attention.

For years and years I have been using Norton Anti-Virus and while I've never been infected by a virus yet, I have always wondered about alternatives. In CustomPC magazine they mentioned this anti-virus package for Windows called NOD32 and I have to admit, I am extremely impressed with it.

It cost half the price of Norton but Windows feels SO much faster now! Norton really must have got its claws stuck into places I never even knew, but this is like a breath of fresh air.

It does all the usual - full system scans, email checking, Office document scanning, automatic updates, etc. It also offers virus protection from boot and it's quiet, tiny and un-offensive, works really well and REALLY quickly. More importantly though, for the past 5 years it has been un-beaten in the Virus Labs testing reports, finding things Norton missed out on a regular basis.

So, if you want to re-claim some processing speed and increase your virus protection I would strongly recommend this:

I was gonna say, sounds too good to be true and probably skimps on deep protection, but if these lab results are kosha then it must be worth a look. Just today norton told me I have 1 month before my subscription expires, so this is a good time to change.

I believe the protection goes deeper than anything else out there. The Virus Labs are an independant body, I would trust their research to not be vendor biased. I've had it installed for a few days now and no problems at all, is catching everything thrown at it (which spam email tends to do a lot).

I prefer http://housecall.trendmicro.com/
It's a free online virus scanner. That means that you download a client, and it scans your computer. It has a constantly updating database so there's no upgrades to buy or download, and you don't need to pay for a subscription. I swear by it.

but it doesn't protect your computer from getting a virus, only clearing or finding it x_x

The new free version of AVG ( http://free.grisoft.com ) is very good. Updates much faster than old free version. Free version is only for personal use only though, unfortunately, so in theory you should not install on work pc's...

Have to agree that Norton is pants. At work we have had so many clients using Norton and complaining their pc's run really slow. Uninstalled it and voila, fast pc again. Also many new pcs give you what you think is a free version of Norton Antivirus but you only get 6 months or a years worth of free updates and are then expected to stump up for regular updates. Much cheaper to uninstall and buy latest version in a shop!

I have gone to clients and peoples houses to find people running Norton Antivirus that stopped updating years ago, and they had no idea they weren't protected properly. Still beggars belief with all the news about viruses that people still think that 'it will never happen to me'.

Boo!
