im curious because it's rumoured you can?

apparently using Half Life 2 and connecting to steam with a valid CD key you can download day of defeat... is this true? i need to know cheers.

Day of Defeat is a mod of half-life, but day of defeat source (Day of defeat for half-life 2) isn't released yet so you'll have to wait for a while for that one. I own both half-life & half-life 2 so I don't know if just owning half-life 2 gives you the options of the origional half-life mods alone.

Day of Defeat, and Counter-Strike are free if you have Purchased Half-Life.

Day of Defeat Source, Counter-Strike Source, and Half-Life Source are free if you havge Purchased Half-Life 2 Silver Pack.

If you purchase the Silver package or higher off Steam then you get Valve's back catalogue of games, which includes Day of Defeat.

Source is the name of the engine. So when you get CS source it means you have CS for HL2.
