what you are looking for are sightings of the G-man through the game, so far I have seen him 4 times but there may be more since he sneaks off when you get close even if you are not actualy looking the right way (and you still can`t kill him), so I may have missed him in some places, so far I have....

on the tv in the first underground railway lookout post (the one with the vortigaunt and the guy watching tv)

in the concrete canal gullys during the airboat section on a overhead walkway just before the section where you can turn off into a dead end guarded by one CG soldier with some goodies and headcrabs at the end

during the car section where you go from thumper to thumper he can be seen through the binoculars set up by the CG in the second of the houses talking to resistance members in the house where you later fight off the gunship and get the rpg launcher

during follow freeman you can see him on a tv in an abandonded room at the bottom of a stairwell just before it goes off

I think I saw him on another tv in an apartment, but that may have just been a glimpse of Breen making one of his little lectures since I almost missed it, being busy with a couple of zombies at the time.

so who can add to the list?, how many G-man sightings can we get in total?

another I just spotted while replaying, when the teleport goes wrong at the start you can see Elies team in the monitor to your right trying to get you back, look at the monitor you can see on Elies left hand side in the monitor in the transport room (while you are transporting)

I think that he appears in the courthouse level, after making your way though the jungle of lasers, you will see a painting on the wall of a mysteriouse man in a suite, holding an unbrella in the rain, I'm sure it's G-man.

@ Major Payne: hmm! I can`t find that one, where exactly? in the laser room? or the room with the generator in it?, all I can see are four paintings on the wall of the laser room and none of them is the G-man, two kids group portraits and two scenes.

Well, just after you make your way through all those lasers, and de-activate the security system for Barney, you will emerge into a hallway, the painting should be right in front of you at that poing, it is of a business man holding an unbrella in the rain, and it looks like the G-man.

ha! I think I found what you where talking about, it`s a black line drawing on the wall though, not a painting, it has those weird legs like the aliens in the citadel and the face doesn`t look human, I don`t think thats G-man since he always has that briefcase with him when you see him in full as well, wonder why it has the umberella though?, I thought the aliens where slaves .

well time for a spoiler.

I looked through my guide book, he shows up in chapters 1-4, 6, 9, 11, and 14.

Chapter one- On the train (if you miss that then please beat your self with a tack hammer)

Chapter two- On the TV that the Vortigaunt is watching in the railcar.

Chapter three- on a giant screen hanging from a building, several images show up, one is the G-Man

chapter four- on the bridge, he walks off to the left

chapter six- as you fight off combine on the train tracks zoom down the tracks into the turrel, if you are fast enough you will see him walking away.

chapter nine- on a monitor in one of the control rooms you can see him walk, stop and adjust his tie, then walk away.

chapter eleven- odd, in the Half Lifers section of my book it said he shows up in chapter 11, I searched through chapter 11 to find out where specifically he wasn't there.

chapter four-teen-teen- umm at the end of the game (again miss this one and I'll give you a tack hammer)

2010? Ohh we should all have 64bit OS's with 10GHz processers using 256GB of RAM.

*Wipes drool from mouth*

yes 2010...

Half Life came out in 1998, HL2 came out in 2004 (six years)

HL2 came out in 2004 so 2004 + 6 = 2010

And I doubte 10 GHz, fast but not 10 GHz on home PCs.

256 GB or RAM, thats over kill.

We should actually see it my 07. Since HL3 is gonna be using the same Source engine, that should save alot of dev time.

Based on the info my guess is 07.

You know who I pray to? Joe Pesci. He looks like a guy who can get things done. Joe Pesci doesn't **** around. In fact, Joe Pesci came through on a couple of things that god was having trouble with.

By 2010, 10ghz PCs will be mid-range gaming PCs, barring some new breakthrough like laser-based processors revolutionizing speeds .

Early 07, or late 06, I hope! Given that Valve isn't shy when it comes to reusing content and Steam and Source are already complete, it shouldn't take all that long to make the new game content and upgrade the engine.

given that computer power is increasing by a power of 2 every year... though it may have toned down, I'll do 1.5. And saying in a midrange PC average is 256MB ram, 80GB HDD, and 2.5Ghz processor, we should be seeing

by 2007
processor 10ghz
ram 1gb RAM
hdd 320 GB HDD

by 2010
processor 80ghz
ram 8gb RAM
hdd 2.5 TB HDD

not too bad considering in 2000, the mid to low range PC at 1000usd consisted of 500mhz, 64mb ram, 20gb hdd

yeah? but how do you get rid of the 5kw of heat the thing would be chucking out?, you think modern fans are noisy? imagine trying to cool a cpu that wants to glow hotter than a plasma arc , it`s dangerous trying to exterpolate from one set of data, just remember that 1970 machines ran at 1 to 4 mhz, doing the same math would show that modern machines are way faster than the ones in your projection for 2010, and in the 70s onwards the rate of advance was much higher (just 2mhz doubled the power of a machine...nowdays it wouldn`t even be mentioned).

well, who knows what they come up with in the next few years^_^

I wouldn't doubt it however, that we won't be seeing watercooled pc's standard in the next few years
