If you've already installed DirectX 7 or higher, try updating your graphics card driver.

update your GFX card driver, make sure you install the directx included on the cd, I am puzzled since you obviously didn`t try the demo or you would have known something was wrong (or is it the demo works and the full program doesn`t?), also download the latest patch and help files from the DB section of this site (solves issues with XP).

PC1: P4 3ghz, 1gig mem, 3x160gig hd`s, Radeon 9800pro w cooler (3rd gfx card), 6 way speakers.
PC2: AMD 2ghz, 512mb ram, FX5200 ultra, 16 bit SB.
Mini ATX cases suck.

Brad, you want to download the DirectX 9 Redistributable... However, it will be quite a hefty download if you're on dial-up!

just get a recent game or games magazine disk, DX will be on there, if you don`t have anything that recent then next time you`re down the supermarket just get a copy of PC format or PC gamer, they both have the DX redist on the CD/DVD.

Yeah... the error suggests that your graphics card is too old / frail / weird to be run on by DBC.

Basically, your graphics card doesn't support 640x480 16bit enough for DBC to run on. I had one before - an old ATI Rage Pro...
