Although I know there must be topics similar to this somewhere, I looked through the back-lists of topics and couldn't find any. So, here's my question. I've gone through a number of UV mapping tutorials, and have tried various programs including Lithunwrap and MapMagic to create UV maps of objects I create in anim8or. When I try to apply them in DBPro, though, the objects stay blank. I have the bmps in the same folder and everything; there is no problem in loading the image itself. It just doesn't end up on the object. I've tried scaling and scrolling the texture, and I have no problem texturing matrices.

You have to apply the texture to the object in anim8or, using the uv button. That will map uv coordinates to the object, then you can open the object in UVMapper or whatever, and it will give you a texture map. You can't just make a new texture map and expect it to fit. Although, I think you can make a texture map and save it to an object in UVMapper, then re-open it in anim8or with the texture map you made, save it as .3ds and convert to .x.

I don't know how to open the map in Anim8or. I have no problem, say, making a bmp file with an unfolding of the polygons on it. Where do I go from here? In anim8or, I click on the uv button, and just get a wireframe square (not cube) and a circle around it centered on the object. There's nowhere to open a bmp file. Also, how does it help to save to .x? Does anybody know of a good tutorial for this?

In anim8or you need to apply a material to the object, then the wireframe square will change the direction of the texture aplication. It's a fairly rubbish system. There'll be a button with a picture of 4 circles on, this opens your materials toolbar. In the program you use to get the unfolded polygon texture map, can you save the uv coordinates of the map onto the object? This would be the easiest way to do it, then you can re-open the file in anim8or. The program that comes free with DB is useful for .3ds to .x conversion.
