Trying now.

[EDIT]
Failed.
213.94.180.57
Make sure you have port 1900 Open (I know what Microsoft says, but I'm telling you that your Client App is trying to connect on 1900)

Humm.

Here's what I have on my end:

http://www.cellbloc.com/darkbasicforum/Port-1.jpg
http://www.cellbloc.com/darkbasicforum/Port-2.jpg

It first calls out trying to connent to Port 1900, then again it tried to connect to 2300.

ShieldsUP is reporting 2300 as opened, so that is a good sign, but 1900 not up I'm a little confused.

Ok, 1900 is not related to DirectX in anyway shape or form.

But even so, when it tries to connect at 2300, still no response.

Ok I've probed port 47624 which is directx7 connection port and it is also open. 6073 is for directx8 which is closed so I believe dbpro must be using dirextx7 connection method and is using port 47624. Either that or I may need to open 6073 but anyway can you check that port is open on your end.

I get the same port numbers showing up on my zone alarm, not sure what the story is with port 1900, but I'm not sure how to open it or if I should or if it's even to do with it. (btw i have my zone alarm off while testing here)

What connection are you on btw cellbloc? 56k, dsl faster? Don't think it matters but just to know.

[edit] Like NewbieBrogo tested for me online a while ago and he could connect and chat etc. So I'm sure it works but it's good to get an understanding of what is going on with the ports and stuff to make it easy for as many people to connect. Plus it would be great if you could finally connect cellbloc

I can keep the server up for about another hour or 2 then i will have to go.

Strange.

I will check the ports here in a moment, need to eat for about 15 min.

Quick question. You said earlier that you had people connect, was that before the 5.7 patch? Just curious.

[EDIT]
64k Broadband. And yes, I would like to connect also.

[EDIT 2]
I'm going to get back to work now. We can try later. Anyone else is more than welcome to try.

Since I started on this project I have been using 5.7, Newbie Brogo connected and chated with me and moved his character (a box) around. Someone else also connected but they didn't input a name and they left quick. So I know 2 people have connected, perhaps this was a fluke? To be honest not enough people are trying to join when I put a server up so it's hard to tell if it's working or not. Plus if someone else could try hosting it might shed some light.

Btw has anyone tried hosting a game and joinging on the same computer or on a lan? That should work fine at least for now.

oh yes Merix also connected, their posts are earlier in the thread.

One thing I noticed when using DBPro's built-in net commands was that most of the time only one person could connect to me, and if other people did manage to connect, I could see them, but they couldn't see eachother . Dodgy things those built-in commands..

Multiplayer DLL on its way! Easy to use DLL for client/server multiplayer games.

Well I haven't had a chance to work on this since the last test but I will hopefully get back to it soon. I'm thinking of using benjamins plugin to handle the multiplayer code. If I do, that will most likely take a few days of recoding but it does look like it's faster at connecting etc. so it might be worth doing.

There's a lot I have to do but I might work on some enemy killing first to get some action into the game.
