Hey people,

My second hard drive was clicking really loud this morning then died, bringing all of my data down with it. I've lost all my DBP work (including WordTris), my C++ and C# work (including WordTrix and GameBasic--- my final University degree project), tons of photos (wedding, honeymoon, special occasions), movies, etc.). The real irony is of course the fact that I just purchased a new CD burner to back up my data, and I was in the middle of backing everything up when the crap started happening.

I keep getting strange hardware errors on bootup as well, so I think it might be more serious than just a hard drive.

I managed to salvage a month old copy of the GameBasic source and my wedding/honeymoon pics (thank you Jesus for that--- those pics are irreplaceable!!!!) from my email's Sent folder.

Anyways, I'm on my wife's slooooow comp now and she uses it all the time. I probably won't be able to post here for at least a few days or maybe even longer. I can't afford a new hard drive let alone a new computer.

It just started snowing last night so maybe something might've happened with the power. So far 2005 has been most unlucky--- car accident, cell phone damage ($$$), etc. etc. etc.

Ouch. That's got to hurt.
I've backed up all my data in my second hard disk. Now that I think of it, I don't have a second HD. That must be another partition of the same HD... That can't be good... Hmm, what's that clicking noise??

Actually, my HDD has been clicking every startup lately causing it to freez when it starts to load Windows. The only way for me to get it to startup is to turn it off, pull out the power cable, plug it back in and turn it on again. I've backed up all my data though so now I'm just sitting and waiting for the day where it finally breaks down completely.

There are data recovery firms out there, that can get your work back for a price. Amazingly you can crush,burn,and pour water on a hard drive and still retrieve almost all of the data from it.

I try to backup my files as often as possible, incase something like this happens. Unfortunatly my CD writer has gone crazy, it won't keep the CD tray in. I mean, I push it in, it comes back out. I worked out that if I hold back the tray for a second then let go as its going back in, it works. Lately it hasn't been working though, and I don't know what to do
