Just wondering, Who are the oldest people to this forum (that is, who's been here the longest)
Maybe we could make a top-20 list, which might help in knowing who can help
*Note: You can see how long by the date given under avatar

I'm middle-aged(In forum years ). I've been through 3 different versions(Meaning big changes) of this forum.

Pretty much anyone who can remember RGT is a middle-aged or a veteran.

iirc, Rick Vanner is the guy who's been of the forums the longest.. ironically his combined post count is still in single figures

as for myself, i'm not the oldest; but one of the first 50. god knows how quickly the forum filled though.

I'm not old at all but a lot of people say it feels like I've been here forever.

Never sure whether to take that as either a compliment or an insult. Its probably the latter!

I like to think of time on the forum as BB and AB. Before Bear and After Bear.

RGT is t3h pwnz0r!!111

Actually, I like the color scheme that I have on RGT better then apollo, never been a fan of bright colors. That and some of the people there i like better... then theres a few i'd like to hit with a shovel (that goes for here too).

Anyway, on topic, My join date is sorta right, though i was browsing and on the old RGT before apollo. Not extremely active though, considering I wasn't really into the whole DB thing, i was thinking Qbasic was still the sh*t. Then i got with the times, and learned of this amazing thing called "3d". And then i learned that there are these languages, that allow you to use this 3rd dimension. I was flabbergasted. Actually, thats not accurate... I did do a tiny bit of 3d (from a book) in c++ when DirectX just came out.

Then a year or 2 ago.. i discovered the wonderful world of game design... and really haven't done much programming since (like i ever did alot in the first place .......... sad). I just stick around the community cause its like a online version of heroine... just can't get enough.

That and I sorta like TGC's products... keyword is sorta, I really have never liked any companys products. The only way I could like a product is if it was built for me, and only for me. But that ain't gonna happen.

Anyway, returning to topic, i've seen a few differnt layouts of apollo, liked the last color scheme TBH.

As for the oldbies, Indi, he's been around for a long damn time.

Eric

I hate the internet
Edit:
OH.. might as well do my name history

______ - Leaving the first on blank partly cause i don't remember it (sorta), and partly as it might rekindle some hatred.

yusuke200013 - was an email address.. and i used the name for everything at 1 point.. cause i have a bad memory, and it was best if i used the same name. It was a short time till i realized the anime the name came from sucked and i was a mindless fanboy... so i changed it to ->

EricT - Had it for a week then i changed it to ->

Liquidz_Snake - Still use this for online games i play in. Reason i had it was Solidz_Snake, my partner in crime then, we we're making a game and decided on my name... make it simalar and cool. Of course that game never saw the light of day, solidz disapeered for a while, and reshowed up one day. He now works on a game called "Fung Wan Online" as a game designer (last time i spoke to him).

EricT (again) - and its been this way for a while now.

Yeah... my names have evolved.

I read about DBP from Slashdot in June '03 and immediately purchased it online for almost $100US. I was also a member of RGT back then but didn't make one post there. I didn't post on Apollo until around the end of July when I made my first game, Pegz3D (which almost nobody liked).

One of the earliest things I remember is Mattman calling me a newb hehehe. Wish I could find that thread

thinking of people who've been here just as long as I have, and that are still around is hard!

only people I could think of is,
Xtom, Titan, Moondog, and well the current RGT Staff bar Mike.

Kinda miss Rich being called Requiem. This said most of the real oldies only hang in LLRGT, so there is probably a bunch I've missed and some have changed thier usernames. A few probably won't be of notice, becuase alot of people seem to be under the impression I joined quite late, around 1.06 release. That was simply when I became active really.. So it's more when people generally started to notice I was there. Known Xtom effectively since the begining, if Webdext & Kyle (TDBoy) were still around, then they'd also be very old users. Technically I see them around, but they've gone over to the darkside.

Josh (Halo) is another really old member, his early experiment Inca was definately pretty cool. Cartography Shop was originally created in order to aid it's development, kinda sad in terms of those who were following it that Inca 4 was the last release.. there was an unreleased Inca 5 that became DBQuake. There were alot of speed problems though due to the modeller on the project gave everything ridiculous polycounts, I remade all the models (and have this in back-up so might fish it out) that sped it all up. By which point Josh had 'moved on' to the darkside as well.

Like Mnemonix, I started using DBC around 3 years ago and then joined the forums when I got DBP just over 2 years ago. I've never been particularly active but I generally browse the forums for a couple of hours every day.

Raven must have been around for a while - he seemed quite well known when I first arrived.

I first got hold of DB at 1.08, but never got as far as the forums.
Joined here at the time my join date says so.
Only because I was going through a massive fit of programming, and wanted the latest version ( 1.13 ) , then I got hooked on DBP... And, well, here we are

Im an oldbie but hardly the first to find DBC.
I found it at v105/6 like uwdesign said.

Rick and Lee were the mods at the time in the 4rums, RGT was no where in site yet,and people like, bloodlocust, raven and Flaming Ameoba would entertain us

sauron and some other nancy names tried to spam and corrupt the forums in the dark old days but failed miserably.

I think it was more the "I should be a mod" stage that annoyed most of us, especially as you'd only been a member for a week.

I joined the 4Rum something like June 2000, after reading it for about 6 months (DIV user at the time). Interestingly I joined 2 weeks either side of Indi (can't remember who was first). I remember thinking he had an impressive post count, and was amazed he started about the same time. Don't think you had a life at the time mate Don't get me wrong, I had something like 3000 posts after a while, but it was nothing in comparison.

I even remember the first question topic I asked on the forum, about rolling a ball around. Dr Av (Avalanche) helped me on that one. Remember his demo? Was tops.

Cheers

I've lost track of when I started with DB, I think I caught it on TV, like some sorta technology review program - then found it online, this would have been about the same time as Lee's infamous PCGamer bedroom shots (all tastefully done). I'm thinking v1.05/06, the black and grey forums. I would have joined much sooner if someone had told me .

IIRC my first post was to ask John111 for a mountain bike model, I'm still waiting on it.

i've been using darkbasic since about august 2000, and i got dbp the xmas after it came out, during the time it had really bad press for bug reports, most of which had been elliminated for xmas sales.

i was with the LLRGT forums until this site got the new forums.

i've been with the darkbasic IRC channel since the september after mnemonix launched it, those were the good old days, it was a very quiet room back then too

edit: I've seen people join, change nick, leave, come back later, then leave again without a trace, i even remember elleomea. I was there when Pet_rat and mouse rebelled against the channel, and When 0_x was called "divide by zero". i 've seen people opped, ive seen people de-opped, yet i havent been one of them yet. I've been through all the friggin networks and it seem swe still havent found the perfect one. coolchat... freedome chat... sheesh
